Looking for Wyoming Information

I'm looking for some information about Thermopolis, WY. I'm contemplating a job there and wondering what it's like. I used to live in Saratoga, WY in the late 70's and early 80's and I know I've been thru Thermopolis, but can't remember anything about it. I know about the hot springs and the wind river canyon.

What is the town like? What's there to do? Good Schools?
How much snow? Winter temperatures? What's the surrounding area like, farms, ranches, etc??

Thanks for any information you can provide. I've done a Yahoo search, doesn't bring up too much about the town itself.

eswatrz, I live in Shoshoni about 32 miles south of Thermop, I go there all the time to soak in the hot mineral baths, great place, I Love Thermop and it is still my destination if I can talk the wife into it, the only reason she wont go is bcuz it is 32 more miles to our job where we both work, this would make our drive 70 miles one way and she dont really want to do it.Thermopolis is like 3k to4k people, small town friendly type town, temps are in the 90 to 100 in the summer and as cold as -40 in the winter on occasion, Thermop can get 2' of snow at times, usually not much wind at all but once in a while when storms roll in the wind blows, I have been everywhere in Wyo and I consider Thermop to be the best all around Wyo town a guy could find. Schools are great up there and not crowded at all, they graduate like 50-60 kids a year but it been declining some, I think folks just dont have as many kids any more........too expensive. There seams to be plenty of work around town, mostly oilfield related but other stuff too. Cost of living is fair up there but land is kinda pricy compared to surrounding areas, but I think all of Wyo land is cheaper than most everywhere else.Great hunting and fishing area too, elk, deer, bear, bighorn sheep, moose...............pheasent and chuckers too.
Do you have a job offer in Thermop???

Cheers, Kevin

Oh man, I gotta get back to Shosoni. Guess I will have to settle for a ice cream cone from the Farson Merc.
