Hi - my Mom lives in a retirement community in Southern California and has a couple of neighbors that are up there in years and are giving up their licenses (voluntarily I might add - they don't feel they can safely operate a car anymore - wish some other folks would follow their lead), and can get around the community, local shopping centers, etc. with golf carts. If they need to go any farther the community has a really good shuttle bus system for them to use.

Anyway, they're looking for golf carts, and I told them that I've seen some around the St. Louis, Mo area once in a while that are for sale, and they wanted to know how much they were - they think they're probably cheaper here than in SoCal. Does anyone know of a reputable company that sells used ones for cheap between St. Louis and Southern California along I70 or I44? I'm planning on going out to SoCal at Thanksgiving and could buy one or two on the way - need some more hauling/towing miles with my new baby...

Oh my gosh - that's funny - I can just see a bunch of seasoned citizens driving around with those - and maybe some hydraulics !!!

 

Unless your grandma likes to wrench on her ride, dont buy a EzGo. I did and was sorry I did.

 

I bought a new EZ-GO back in 2001,havent had a lick of trouble w/ it.and drive it at least 5 miles a day.

 

I have to completely disagree. I think that EZGO makes the best golf cart on the market. Very reliable and parts are easy to get and cheap if you ever do need them. We have over 100 carts at our golf courses and they are virtually trouble free. They do not lead an easy life either.

 

gotta disagree on the EZGO, I work at a large outdoor pavilion. During the concert season we use lots of golf carts for many differnent purposes. We've had nothing but bad luck with EZGO's for the past couple of years, in both utility and passenger configurations.

Ingersol-Rand makes a version called "Carry-All" that can take some serious abuse. (I know ur grandma proly wont be abuseing but since its used.......)

Just my opinion and another option to consider

 

I work at one of those rich edit golf courses and we have both the E-Z-Go and the Carryall. Both have been very good, they get abused by minimum wage employees and hold up very well. I would suggest you stop by a couple of golf courses in the area and see if they are selling any as we tend to replace before they become to expensive to maintain but are still in good shape. We try to sell when we can still get some money for them before they really are junk. I sold about a dozen buggies a couple months ago for $500 ea (Could have been $1000 but we just wanted out from under them) and were in good shape.
I would also recomend checking with the dealers in the area as many clubs ours included lease for 2-3 years and replace, creating a large inventory of carts for the distributor to unload.
