Ok, this might sound gay but I like Lawerence Welk. There I said it. It's out in the open now and I can't deny it. It's all my mom's fault too. When I was little, she watched him religiously and so did I (nothing else to do). The other night he came on PBS and I could remember the eposide that was playing and what I was doing at the time. Sound weird? Now ya'll know my darkest secret so please don't hold it against me.

My dear grandmother used to watch him every Saturday or Sunday night. I think it was just a peaceful time that was so easy for her to enjoy. No problems or in your face attitude. A recalling of familiar themes with happy people singing. Very predictable and easy to follow. Pleasant. Relaxing. Pretty. Hopeful.

As a kid I'd get dropped off to spend the night. She would give me ice cream and put peanuts in it. And we'd watch it together.

Now I always think of her when I see it.

Then, I thought it was boring. Now, it stirs a memory.

Seems so long ago.

Grew up watching that show along with Sea Hunt, Wild Kingdom, and a lot of others.
Use to love to see Joanne Casselberry (spelling) play the piano. She could make those keys do everything but talk.

Can’t say it’s gay really. My grandparents used to watch it every weekend, which pretty much meant that I was watching it. Brings back fond memories of my grandmother. I still miss her.

If you thought that was gay then here is my dark little secret (not really a secret anymore since I posted it yesterday) It pretty much makes me SUPER DORK so don't feel bad: Click Here
