laptop & GPS
#16
I use the Delorme on my laptop w/ usb GPS. I really like it because it's so user friendly. I bought my father ( a technophobe) the Garmin Ique and he loves it. If your looking for a laptop mount in your truck, I use the Jotto desk. www.jotodesk.com It mounts right to your seat bracket. Another make is toughtray.

I have found that what ever you get make sure that you can put in long. and lat. I have had to go where there is no physicall address, (lakes and river camping spots)

2500CDT a glitch copilot laptooop 9 has, on some planded trips it will say "turnaround" for no reason. Always at the same location in that route. I ignore it.
Clayton , copilot let you go to a Lat/Long destination. That is one of the primary resons I purchased it. Had a lot of remote address that only had a lat/long. Like pipline pumping stations in the boonies. It also gives elevation.
MS streets/trips has some incorrect time/miles calculations in the higher latitudes.
Look at all the GPS units, and find the one that will be the most useful.

I use Delorme for work. You can bring Lat/long files on top of your map to mark points of interests. Laptop can be a distraction at times. Be careful, driving comes first. Very useful tool especially when you are not familiar with your suroundings. I also use Mapinfo and Geoset maps. Delorme is the easiest to use.

i use a garmin map 76 GPS with mapsource, and ArcView programs, I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. It also easily hooks to the Laptop with the garmin software. easy to use and very reliable..
