Kitchen Safe Bug Killer

Anyone got any recommendations on some bug spray that is kitchen friendly? I am having a problem with some little bugs that look like a flea, but crawl and get on everything in the kitchen. I thought they were coming up my sink drain, but I am not sure that is the case.

I just need something that I can spray around the sink, countertops and inside the cabinets that is safe to be around food as well. My wife bought a big gallon thing of creamer from Sam's with a pump head on it for her coffee in the morning, and they even got into it. Needless to say I was told to get rid of them at any cost.

We sprinkled boric acid (powder) throughout the house years ago when we were over run with roaches. Might work for these little critters too.

Check into Diatomacious Earth .... supposed to be real good and may be real helpful. It's basically super small skeletal remains of sea creatures that look like spiney sea urchins ... the spines cut through the bugs exoskeleton and kills em !! In theory ... I've not used it myself yet.

Cheers,

Go to the local feed-mill or dairy-supply store and ask for a big aerosol can of dairy-barn fly-spray; it costs $12 at my local mill and is about twice the size of a standard paint-can.

I wouldn't spray it directly into something I was gonna eat, but it is approved for use in milk-tank rooms.

Whatever it has in it, that stuff will kill anything that walks, crawls, flies, or rides in a car.

Just fog the room real good, walk out, and close the door for a few hours.

I have heard of wiping down the countertops with peppermint oil.

Peppermint oil and orange oil both work. Be very careful with Boric acid- it works but is toxic to dogs, cats, and kids! Your best bet though is to find out where they are coming from. Maybe an apple that got left in the cupboard somewhere?? Also check any house plants you have. There is a tiny black fly that breeds in the soil of house plants and is really annoying. If you find signs of it (you'll know because they will be THICK right there) sprinkle used coffee grounds pretty thickly on top of the soil. It won't hurt your plants and it will get rid of the flies.

Here's a link for diatomaceous earth: http://www.earthworkshealth.com/orga...FSIragodL0dASA

Good luck! If you do a search on Google for "pest control" safe natural you will find many links.

I had a gnat problem, and used Raid "Earth Options" that says it kills with a plant based ingredient. It has kind of a clove scent.

Anyhow, from the cautions on the can, I wouldn't eat off anything that had the spray on it, but I put away all the dishes, fruit, and anything else that I didn't want sprayed, then washed the counters, stove top, sink etc.

It seemed to work well, with no ill effects.
