Best Kitchen Knives Made!!!

I just bought something that I've wanted for a long time. A nice set of JA Henkels Professional-S kitchen knifes. I always thought that they were the best, but someone told me that a brand caled Wustolfs were better. I'm not getting rid of my set, but was wondering if there was anybody on here that spends a little extra on a good set of knives?

I have a Wusthof Classic 10" chef's knife. $100, but well worth it, in my opinion. Well-balanced, holds an edge, just a beautiful tool.

Streetsmoker, you got a nice set. I don't think there are any better. The Wusthof are as good but I can not say better.

The one fall back, if you call it that, is Henkels have a couple lesser lines as to where most cutlery makers don't make cheap sets.

Does anybody on here have a set of Cutco knives? They seem pretty nice, and the guarantee is a no kidding for life, but are mega-bucks.

I LOVE to cook, I was turned on to Sabatier many many moons ago by another lover of cooking. While i don`t have a "complete" set (too much $$$) I do have some essentials, 10 in chef, serrated, paring. see here http://www.sabatier.com/gb/aujourdhu...e_classic.html

I'm just going with what my mom uses, and that is Cutco. She has had them the entire 25 years my parents have been married, and they have never been sharpened.

I have a Ginsu knife. Got it free at the fair in 1977. I witnessed the guy cut a can in half and then slice a tomato...real thin. I was AMAZED...I tell ya...AMAZED. But I acted like it was all fake and the guy gave me one for FREE...I tell ya FREE.

One Ginsu knife does all the work of all those spensive knives for a FRACTION of the price...a FRACTION.

I just asked my wife to go check in the kitchen for what kind of knives we have. She asked me "What's a kitchen?"

Me and my wife bought a set of those and we have yet to buy another kitchen knife since. The steak knives are absolutley awesome. My wife likes steaks and such cooked VERY well done and a result of that is that they are a little tougher to cut, but the Cutcos make very short work of it. The unique edge they put on the steak knives and a few other pieces is amazing and have yet to lose thier sharpness in the 4 years we have had them. The chefs knife and paring knife are straight edged and are still very sharp. I really like the sandwich knife, spreads peanut butter and such a lot better than butter knives. I would reccomend them to anybody. I believe they are American made too.

Cutco. Buy 'em on ebay cheap, toss them back to NY for sharpening, and usually get a brand new knife. Nothing better. (in the knife dept anyway)

I started my quest to find the "perfect" kitchen cutlery years ago. Still have a large selection of Chicago cutlery. Nice, not too pricey.

However, I was looking for a meat cleaver several years back and came across Global Cutlery. Yup, get the money out, but man oh man is it sweet stuff.

This place carries an extensive selection of brands, and lots of Global selections:

Happy hunting!
