I agree with others you have to want to quit. I quit on October 1 2004 with Nicoderm CQ.

I always remember the quote: "Kissing someone who smokes is a lot like licking an ashtray!" Ought to motivate Anybody.

My dad smoked for 40 years upto 2 packs of Pall Mall without filter a day. He had a major surgery last year where they replaced the arterias (sp?) that go into the legs. He wasn´t able to move more than half a kilometer without stops. And forget about climbing some dunes around here. His feet started to die because his arterias couldn´t deliver enough blood into his legs. It´s better now but he still smokes, though not as much as before and a different brand of cigarettes with filter. We always tell him to stop it, but if he doesn´t want to we can´t really help him either.

What might help a little bit, don´t think in long-term but in short-term. It´s the same with all drugs (alcochol, cigarettes, mariuhana etc), it´s a head thing, don´t think in days but in hours. Say to yourself not to smoke the next hour and repeat it when the hour is over, do it again and again until the day is over.

Good luck!

i only smoked for about 4 years and itried quitting twice ans did not succed but then i told myself that i was done and went and bought a few packs of lifesavers and gum went through those and still had a urge every now and then then one day the urges stoped and havent smoked since has been since november of 2005. you just have to have the will to quit. and you have to syop talking about it and do it. if you dont think about it, it will be easier.

I've been smokin about a year now and really I think it's a habit more than anything.I can go all day without one if I'm some where I can't smoke and I'm busy I won't think about it I'm fine.

But if ever think about, then I think I need one.I've noticed if I start talkin to somebody whos smokin I'll start smokin.A friend of mine asked me why I started smokin.I told her I was bored. She jumped all over me and really it's the turth. If I'm busy I'm not smokin, if I not busy I smoke.
Mines worse, 2 cans a day 12$
7 cans a week 84$
X52 weeks =4368$
Better then smokin crack though

No progress report needed if you don't do it. We don't need to turn this into a loser forum. You'll be successful if you TELL YOURSELF you will be.

Just do it and be tough about it!

JUST SAY NO MORE SMOKING!!
