Just pulled my gun on a gangbanger.

Staying in a motel out of town and I hear this woman screaming, she is saying something about going home and these two gangbanger types are shoving her around.

I don't know what the heck the deal is but I open the door and tell everybody to calm down!.

Big boy definite banger dress hollers at me to mind my own business and drops his bag on the ground, then charges for my room.

I step back inside the door and draw my Colt Detective special in 357mag and when he enters my room, I teach him not to come to a gun fight unarmed ;D

Man he slobbers all over himself trying to get out the door and hollering he will be back.

Girl runs one way and the two guys to their vehicle, manager of the motel with another guy comes around the corner and get the license plate.

I assume I will be answering police questions shortly, good thing that big boy didn't go for a weapon, I would have double tapped center mass.

He had a lot of nerve coming in my room, but I knew backing inside would give me tactical advantage as he never saw me draw my weapon.

Dam what is the world coming too these days? These guys were nothing short of pure thugs, and have probably been so for years.

Re:Just pulled my gun on a gangbanger.

Sounds like you did good. You're alive and unharmed and you didn't have to shoot anyone. I can't say for sure because you were there and I was not, but the only thing I might have done different was been a little bit less confrontational at the beginning. I can't tell from your post what kind of tone you used, but telling someone to calm down could go south in a hurry if said the wrong way. I probably would have just stuck my head out and asked if everything was okay...asked the woman if she needed assistance. That may have brought on the same rush from the assailant, but it probably would have been less confrontational on your part.

I don't know how long you intend to be in that motel...but you might consider changing to a different room on the other side of the place if you're going to be there for a while. Or even go to another motel. If they choose to retaliate it would be better if they retaliate on an empty motel room.

You did good. Thugs like that and other whackos are the reason I carry a Glock 30 just about everywhere I go.

4 miles from my house no less. I'm glad I live 4 miles South of there. South Wilmington st in Raleigh isn't the nicest place on the planet.

Way to go, Top! BTW, there have always been thugs in the world, just not so many and so brazen. Since our court systems began plea bargains and reduced sentences, we have more of them on the streets, and the would-be's have less incentive to not-be. Just my $.02.
This is why the Second Amendment was put into the Constitution - the right of self-defense against ALL thugs.

Yeah I am leaving here today and have moved this desk away from the window till I do

Smart move. No sense in sticking around just to see if they really do come back.

The fact of the matter was, these guys were wound up and didn't want anyone interfering in their business in any way. I would have probably gotten the same response by asking for the grey poupon

Hehehe...I'll remember that. The first time I ever have an "encounter" (hopefully never), I'll just say, "Pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?" ;D

I'm surprised they don't want to talk to the witness...especially considering you drew on the guy.

Unless the Motel manager called the police, they probably only know about the disturbance, not about my airing out my revolver.

Backing into my room also kept anybody from seeing me brandishing a weapon, another plus in a tactical situation. I told the manager about it, but I think since the girl ran away he just wanted the guys long gone.

This is likely the end of the story, unless the young lady reports what happend. The Motel manager has all my info and I will be happy to give them details if they desire.

Re:Just pulled my gun on a gangbanger.

This is a great example of what a legaly owned and carried gun can do.... now if all those anti-gun people would just get a clue.

You very well could have saved a life that night.

Good Job.
