If they do attach that way, perhaps tamperproof hex or torx screws?

, dont ask me where the first one went either. I needed fuel, so I took my dewalt, a small drill bit, and drilled the lock out in about 8.2 seconds. Kind of disapointing that it was that easy. Gotta find a replacement lock for it now

I just installed a locking billet-style cover that I got from Geno's. Actually lends some character to my otherwise plain looking truck. My wife thinks it looks cool. It looks so tough that it would prevent most would-be thieves from even trying to tamper with it. For those who think it could be removed with an allen wrench, I don't think so. You have to have the locking cover open to hold the nuts inside in order to tighten the allen screws. I figure the cost of the locking cap ($100) is worth one tank of diesel.

Of course, that doesn't stop them from drilling holes in your tank...but neither does anythig else (except maybe a match).

Im not worried about it. When the crook realized that he cant get the hose down, he will move on to an easier target.
I guess I just dont care. Heck, I lock my tookbox more than I do my doors.
If they want it bad enough, they will get it.

In today's MSNBC news:
LORTON, Va. - About 400 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen within the past week from a Lorton-area construction site, Fairfax County officials said. The fuel was taken sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 6 from a battery-operated fuel pump and storage tank in the 9700 block of Gunston Cove Road.
Police said several other cases of gasoline siphoning have occurred in the county this week.

I guess it's still good for keeping people from putting stuff in your tank. Not that I have any enemies, but some folks are just mean spirited.
