Is just me, or.....
Is just me, or.....
Today coming back from an overnighter to a cattle sale in Oklahoma, I noticed something that confirms a trend I am seeing here in Central Texas.
I pointed out a vehicle to my wife - and said, watch him, he is gonna punch it and do his best to pass me at his best speed. Sure enough - he goes flying by me. My wife asked how I knew he would do that, and I replied "it's easy, he's driving a Toyota Tundra, and they are the most aggressive drivers out there when they see an American made pickup in front of them". Have y'all noticed this too? When I am in the Jeep Patriot, my sons Cavalier, or the Explorer I had up to a few months ago, they (Tundra drivers) didn't see the need to "blow my doors off". If I'm in any American made pickup, they just have to fly right by me.
I had to explain to my wife the whole miserable story about Toyota trying to make a full-sized pickup - from the old mid 80's "1 tons [could pull a 2k trailer], to the laughable T-100 presented as a full size, and then the first edition of the 3/4 size Tundra. I guess those boys still have some "real truck envy" issues?

Haven't noticed that out in West TX, but I have noticed in the San Antonio area. There is one young kid I ran into at Lowe's with a tricked out Tundra.......he probably can blow my doors off in race with both trucks empty. He was bragging about out preforming my Dodge. I said let pull the same trailer up a fairly steep grade we have out here and the fastest time wins a grand.......he shut up very quickly........I imagine he had done everything with Daddy's money.

I've noticed some stuff like that too. I get things like that with about any 1500.
Where I live I pull out in a large dip in the road. Basically the driveway comes out in a valley with a hill on either side. Its about 1/4 mile to the top of one hill and about 1/2 mile to the top of the other. When you come down either one there isn't really a need to apply throttle.
Well I was stopped at the bottom of the driveway looking both ways to pull out and I saw a Tundra coming down the road. I just sat there waiting for him to go by. About halfway down the hill the young guy in the Tundra lays in on the throttle wanting me to hear his straight pipes. He had his crew in the truck with him and they were all eyeballing me.
The neat thing I thought was that to pull the hill on the other side his truck had to downshift. When I'm in my truck and want to do the same thing I just leave it in 6th and push the pedal down!

Hadn't noticed that .... probably cuz I am in my FJ most the time
.
I know I don't do that ... 99% of the time I ride right next to the Dodges so I can hear the rumble and smell the Cummins perfume
. (I miss BERT
)
If Mrs. Pistol's drivin' the Hemi .... we blaze past them all !!
I think if it's Tundra drivers and here in Texas .... it's probably because they are proud that their truck was made here in Texas. You see all the little Made in Texas BY Texans stickers in most of their rear windows.
Pride runs deep in Tejas.

People pass me all the time because I drive 55. I always seem to catch up with them in traffic or a light. And I usually wind up passing them while they are at the pump refueling. I don't know why they would want to be in front of me rather than behind me, my truck is just as ugly from the front as the back.
