July 4th fast trip

I may have to make a fast trip over July 4 holiday to Richmond IN and back.Sorry guys no time to howdy and shake or meet and greet. My son (stepson) has about talked himself into going and seeing his paternal grandfather before the Alzheimer’s disease gets so bad that he will not know him .I think it will be good for them both. I can’t come up with a better route than I 30 & 40 through West Memphis then up though ILL on I55 &57 to I 70. From my days on the road I remember this being fairly good route.
I’m wondering, is the speed limit in ILL still 55MPH when towing?

It has been a while since I was around there but I would look a going north on 69/75, Sherman, McAllester and Muskogee. Then 44 to St louis and take 70 and so forth.

Just watch out in Effingham, Illinois you can't throw a dead cat without hitting a police car around that town. I don't know why it's the flattest most boring staight road around and a police car under every bridge .

It's 55 mph towing in Illinois but everyone drives 65 or so. Just slow down when the truckers do and you will be fine.

The route you are talking about is good too but the sloooowwww boooooring drive up 57 Illinois will seem like forever. Missouri is 70 0r 75 , I can't remember. Illinois is 65/55 (yuck)

Good luck

You know your are right, I forgot all about that.

I never paid much attention to the 55 mph when towing, it was dangerous to even try to drive 55 mph with car traffic @ the speeds they drive and their mental abilities.
