Yesterday. Went to the monthly gun show and walked out with a XD Tactical in .45. I had no intent of buying but the price was acceptable and figured the wife finally bought me something for our 34th anniversary that I liked.

While there I met a good lawyer. Yes, actually a good lawyer. He had a table and was selling guns with an FFL.

Took the XD out today and tested it. I am very happy with the functioning and for a service gun the accuracy is acceptable. This is because I have a .45 that will hold everything to 1.5 inches at 50 yards making anything else acceptable. I did have some failure to feeds but that was totally the ammo as it is .45 wadcutter and once I switched over to Ball and Hollowpoints it never stuttered. I anticipated the problems with the wadcutter but wanted to try it and see just how good the feeding really was.

I must say that between a Colt 1911A1 Series 70, Ruger, H&K, and EAA .45s that this XD has the softest recoil of any of the listed .45s. Going to really enjoy this pistol.

I've had my XD for about a year or more now and I love it. Accurate, now jam ups ever but I've always run good quality ammo. Now it sits with a full mag of Hornady TAP. Kinda heavy to carry though....conceal and so on. I'm thinking about a XD in a 40 with the three inch barrel just for more concealment when needed.

Think I paid $600 out the door for mine, actually a bit less than 6, 587 or something like that. My friend had a 40 something and it kicked like a mule compared to mine. He shot mine and said, "wow". His actually got to hurting my wrist by the end of two mags. Don't know why, think it was a keltech or some off brand like that.

Me and my bro-in-law got a pair of them, him the .45 tactical and me the 40 S&W, they are both top-notch and I wouldn't have it any other way. They break apart easy, clean up good, and are pretty much right on the money. Welcome to the club man!!!

I have the .45Tactical with the compact grip and a XD40 3". Both are rock solid. Have a set of tritium night sights installed if you havn't already they are super nice for low/no light situations. When I first got the 45 I put 400rds thru it as quickly as my buddy could load the 4 magazines. The thing got so hot even the plastic was warm. The only malfuntion I had was 1 failure to lock open when the mag was empty and that was on the 2nd mag. Since then it has been flawless. I rarely carry one of my 1911's anymore now that I have the XD's. Welcome to the club

I've got an XD-9. I wanted something that cost less than my .45 or .41 mag to shoot.

I've put a couple thousand rounds through it without a hiccup. Everyone said I was crazy for not getting a Glock. If a Glock fits your hand, great, they don't fit mine and don't point where I aim them.

The XD feels totally natural in my hand, the grip angle is perfect for me.

You get a whole lot more bang for the buck (no pun intended) with an XD also.

I always carried a 1911 so a glock wouldn't naturally aim where I wanted it. I had to think about aiming and make corrections. It wasn't something I wanted to have to do in a bad situation. The XD got the grip angle correct for me and I like the extra safety features.
