John Deere ?

I found a neat little John Deere 2010 with a 4cyl diesel engine and the uncommon factory single front tire. It runs, but it's in pretty rough shape, the rear tires are junk, the front one is ok, it's all faded out and dented up. Just wondering if there are any John Deere buffs on here that might know what something like this is worth? Thanks.

What do you plan on using it for? Just to tinker with? Plan on restoring it? Or do you want to get it in running condition and use it for land work?

Either way, your gonna have to put some money into it. Rear tires usually run up the bill, unless you know a guy who knows a guy who can pull some strings.

But if its running and fully functional, by that I mean you can hook any made-for implement up to it and put it to work, id say $4k - $5k.
But again, it all goes back to what you plan on doing with it.
But that's just my .02¢

Don't plan on much, maybe pulling a wagon or 2 around, and the 3 pt cutter, and running the woodspliter. Pretty much just to have it. I would probably repaint it, that and maybe a tractor pull or 2 in the good old boys class against my budies. And I have a turbo for it! So, pretty much just to have. The guy is asking $3500. I thought that was a little high. I'll see if I can get a pic posted.

What he want is a little high IMO. It depends on the year, 63-65 were better years they fixed some hard starting issues with the glow plugged diesel. If it has 3point with quik coupler it will be worth more. The single front wheel wasn't that rare it depended more on what part of the country you were in. We had 3020's and 4020's with singles in the front. The 2010 would be in about the same class as a 60/620/630 series 2cyl tractor. High 30hp range at the drawbar and about 47 at the crank.

Yeah, if its as rough as you describe $3500 is way too much. 2010's are nothing to brag about, we have a gas one and I refuse to use for anything other than pulling empty wagons around. Great driving little tractor, but absolutely gutless.

I've run them both and I think the 2010 belongs in the 50/520/530 class. Our 2010 will not keep up with our 630 out in the field.

Yea I know I agree. Its just like the 3010 was to replace the 730, but the 730 will flat outwork the 3010 and use less fuel doing it. I have never put a 830 against a 4010/20 so I wouldn't know in that department.

You have a point there with the 730 vs. the 3010.
Years ago my dad bought a 5-16" trailing plow from a guy who had all he could do to pull it with his 4020. Our 820 walks away with it in 3rd gear.

I've noticed that when it comes to pulling out in the field the old 2 cylinders really do shine. The new generation tractors seem to work alot better when you have PTO work to do.
