It was a comfy 84 degrees here today ... like yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that ... ;D 8)

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple feet of snow out in the yard. It's fun to get the CJ7 out in the slick stuff to play.

It was a beutiful snowy 23*F up here today. We have about 5 inches of snow. Then again it can snow here in August. Never fear its supposed to be a balmy 0*F by the end of the week, I think I here my sled moving itself closer to the garage door.

AHHHHH you gotta love northern Canada. Another 5-10* F colder and I will have to start thinking about plugging the old girl in.

SC, why are you whining about only an inch or two of snow? : That is considered just a dusting in some parts of the country. When you receive 10 to 20 inches overnight, then you can whine. Just ask the DTR's who live in the real winter areas. Bet some of them have some doozer stories of deep snow and getting going the next day.

Re:It's 80* and calm in Montana.....

Not much. However I have spent too many winters in Canada and know from first hand experience what a real snow storm is like. Have been thru two overnight storms with over 20 inches of snow overnight...... the day after I changed from snow tires to summer tires. Just kept on driving and from then on never used snow tires again. How many of you have driven in almost whiteout conditions and then being nearly blinded by a lightening flash followed by a VERY loud clap of thunder? Sounds strange, thunder and lightening during a snow storm, but it happens.
My driveway in eastern Canada was around 1500 feet long. Used to have it blown out by a local farmer. One day with the blown out track thru the snow at about hood height we had fine snow and lots of wind. This filled in the driveway flush with the surrounding snow. No problem for me as I just drove thru this fine stuff with snow coming over the hood. Parked as usual. Temps were way below freezing. Next morning, jumped in the car, fired it up, put it in gear, let the clutch out and the engine almost stopped. Reved it up higher and tried again. Everything was locked solid. Figured out the fine snow had worked its way into all the brakes, melted when I stopped and froze solid overnight. Had to have the car towed with locked wheels to the local garage for an all day thawing.
So to cut many a long story short, to me 6-10 inches of snow overnight is just a minor inconvenience. It is the dummies out there that have no idea how to drive in this stuff that are the real problem. The drivers that figure that once the wheels start spinning that the best way to keep going is to make them spin faster. DUH!!!
Closed golf courses are a different thing and now you have a reason to whine. ;D

Driving in the white stuff doesn't phase me at all .... but when the road is clear with a slicker-than-snot layer of black ice ... now, that is when I just stay home .

Re:It's 80* and calm in Montana.....

I specifically recall one trip I took as a kid with my mother heading up to Telluride, Colorado to go skiing.

She was driving her 1970 something suburban, flying up the 2 lane mountain road in four-hi, 90 miles and hour - hair on fire, when we come skiddin' around a few of them corners on the black ice ... all I could see was how incredibly steep the cliff was that the back end of the 'burban was skirting around !!!

Good ol' Ma ... had the Elvis 8-track blarin' ... never let her foot off the throttle and the ash never dropped off the end of her Camel non-filter. I, however was in dire need of a tranquilizer .

I sure miss that ol' gal !!!
