Isuzu Rodeo

So I'm looking at getting a Rodeo 4x4 manual to use as a daily driver. Open to most years, but also kinda like the newer body styles (of course).

What experiences have you had with them? What should I look for?

THanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, the honda passport is a close next of kin to the Isuzu rodeo. If that is the case they are great little vehicles. We had a 97 passport that was an awesome SUV. It was an automatic with the small v6. Got pretty good mileage, and was super comfortable inside. Never had any problems with it in the 70K miles we owned it. Oh with just a decent set of AT tires it did great in the winter months.

I bought a 2002 Rodeo with about 7000 miles on it if I remember correctly.
It had the V6, and was ok. It could have had more power.
The mileage we got was only about 17mpg. It was comfortable, but sold it within a couple years, so don't know about any long term reliability.

I had a 98 (first year of new body style) 4x4 auto V6. Good all around run around SUV. I got around 22hwy 18cty while stock. I ended up with 6inches of lift and 33-1250-15 MTs regeared it to 4.77 and used manual hubs (best mod ever!!). Mileage was around 16hwy 13cty then. Only problems I had out of the vehicle were of previous owner mistakes and repair shop after smacking a deer.

After smacking a deer I had all my front plastic, metal, radiator, AC condenser replaced apparently there is a wiring harness that controls the tranny up there that the repair shop neglected to secure It rubbed a short and fried the tranny

I used to tow my 4200# boat with it 75mph all day no prob.

Also was fully loaded except leather. All worked great no probs (elec windows locks AC radio) I did replace 1 alternator.

Sorry little long mabye more than needed

I have a 2000 Trooper. Im not sure how similar they are, the trooper has been a solid truck, the 4X4 actuators went out under warranty (I doubt they were used more than 2 times before I got it at 32K miles)
I get about 17 mpg highway.

100K? That's a fair amount. Are you getting a smoking deal?

Sounds like a good deal as long as the 4 wheel drive works ok.
