Well, i am 25 currently employed for a contractor in Iraq. I completed 2 deployments with the Marines and seperated in late 2004. I have been collecting parts for a build of a 68 M715. The newest part is a 97 6BT with 108k on it. One of my best friends is a Diesel Fanatic and I have seemed to catch the bug. This site seems like a good resource for tech advice and set-up of the 6BT i will be placing in my 715. It will be until the beginning of the year until i will be back in the states and working on my 715. Until then i will just lurk and read articles. I currently bought a house in Middle TN where i have grown up and look forward to starting my build and blowin smoke while turning over a set of 40" Ground Hawgs.
yeah i have been doing alot of studying on what i am going to run tranny wise. I am leaning towards a nv4500 with a full splined 5th gear (or at least welded). I also have a set of modern 1 tons to replace the old closed knuckle 60 and dana 70. I'm trying not to buy to much over the internet due to i know i can find it cheaper when i am home. Plus it is hard to get items shipped and my poor buddies have been running around to get items for me. Thank god for good friends. I see you are looking to be a Butter Bar one day? Good luck, just train hard and listen to your SNCO's.
I was actually a Mech. Signed up to be a Combat Engineer and got Engineer Mechanic. "The Recuiter screwed me", typical story. Well my first deployment with 1st MEF i ended up being attached to 2nd MP's for route recon and convoy security. The 2nd Deployment I ended up mentoring alot of the younger guys (picked up sergeant) and ran some check point ops. I handled all the crew serves for the company. I first came back out here in Iraq with blackwater but ended up pulling an enviro job and having a nice office and being able to work out 6 days a week and get my stuff together via the internet has been helpfull.
Fidelis.
P.S. hows the drill field?

at least you get to pass the whippings on to the recruits
. You guys pull some crazy hours, but i could see it being a blast as well. I think it's one of those things you might like once you are completed with the tour. Why not a different B-Billet? Or did you get orders?
