Intro/ Proper NV4500 trans mount
Intro/ Proper NV4500 trans mount
Hello, i am new too the list and the truck in my signature is my first CTD.
My first question involves the transmission mount. When removing the NP205 transfer case for a rebuild (buyer beware
) I noticed that my truck has a NV4500 tranny installed. What is the proper mount for this application. The one on it now is actually welded to the crossmember.
Thanks to all who reply.

OK the welding part is not good. However the NV4500, that is good.
I guess the only thing proper would be to call advanced adapters.
I happen to have a 92 4WD. I put an NV4500 in it. I just went out and looked at it. It appears that the trans mounts are farther to the rear and upward on an NV4500 compared to the of getrag trans. The stock trans mount is a flat bar that bolts to the bottom of the transmission, it then has 2 mounts about 12" apart going to the crossmember.
I took what looks like a square tube about 3" square and bolted it to the bottom of the trans, I then took the stock steel cross peice and notched it and welded it to the square tube. It still uses the stock rubber mounts.
I guess photos would be a better way to explain it.
Sometimes its best to find a stock one and get a good look and do some measuring. then do your mods from there.
good luck
