Intro.. New to Forum.
My name's Victoria and currently residing in Temple, TX. After five years drooling over my dream truck I finally got it a few weeks ago. 99 Sport 2500 SWB 5.9 Cummins 6-speed 4x4. Not a huge fan of the sport editions but after a month of searching for this **** truck first thing that came up I grabbed it. You wouldn't believe how hard an old body style, 4x4, manual, diesel, swb with under 150k is to find. Wasn't like I was askin for too much..
Brief history of my mechanical skills, or rather, lack thereof..
Grew up around automative mechanic father who went Marine Corps (had an interesting childhood that had to get straightened out). So needless to say I grew up in an interesting atomsphere that involved learning profanity at a young age and the skill of launching a wrench across the garage in frustration. I used to drive a F450 wrecker with a ****** and go lift on the back for a repo company for a year and my husband owns a 99 PSD. *shudders* He's a blackhawk crew chief in the army and after watching him "service" his truck I really wonder how those black hawks stay up in the air.
He once told me that all you need to keep a black hawk flying is some duct tape and a coke can..
So all in all, never worked on a Cummins before but I figure a diesel is a diesel. And while the CTD is far, far superior to the PSDs I've been exposed to, the whole suck, squeeze, bang, blow idea still applies to both engines.
Sorry for the life story, but **** it, it's my introduction and there it is.
This seems like a really cool and informative forum so I'm looking forward to reading all y'alls posts.
