Insurance ??
Right now I have all my insurance with all state except my 5th wheel I have shopped around and seems that there giving me the best deal.
But I wanted to know if any one has or knows if there is any one who will insure everything with out bankrupting me ? what i am getting at is lets say my shop burns down ....I have a 100k worth of stuff in there that I dont know if it would be coverd...like 2 jet skis 4 quads 3 welders, fridge, freezer, and gobs of tools , and new truck (in the packaging) parts . I have A husqvarna (spelling) cut off saw thats worth $1100, 2 chainsaws .air compressors ETC. to much to list . but if I lost it all it would be a devastating loss (I know its stuff) We looked at the insurance for the toys but all we find is lots of $ for stuff we only use a few times a year my $60k 5er is like 350 a year and i use it more then the toys I got quotes for the quads at $ 280 a month for each one when I only use the 2x a year and the seadoos 4-6 x a year. I need an umbrella policy or something?
sorry it was long...Thanks

Agreed!
My fiance works for State Farm and set me up with insurance on my truck and life insurance for $110 a month. Before that I had allstate and was getting bent over by them. An agent my parents used for YEARS and he said he was doing the best he could at $180 a month just for the truck. Had he give me a qoute for similar coverage and it was alot better.

I've had Erie for 15 years and am very happy with them. I insure my cars house and life with them the only thing they won't cover is my motorcycle.

Well, it seems that you would have to look for an insurance that will cover your building including contents in case of fire or burglary etc.
Don't get confused with liability coverage for your crafts- you seem to want an insurance for the shed and 100k US$ in goods stored.
IMO this should not be too expensive if you have proof of an alarm system and fire extinguishers etc.
Just my 2c from over the pond

Most ins. companies insure the garage/workshop structure for 10% of the value of the house. You can get additional coverage added to the policy to cover your needs.
The umbrella policy will only cover liability your home owners, auto, farm, etc. doesn't-----up to the amount you choose. It's usually pretty reasonable, like 1M for $150 a year.
Keep shopping and be sure to compare apples to apples. Make sure you have an evidence file of pictures in your safe deposit box, and keep it updated in case of loss.

MMMmmmm.... Grits!!
State Farm. It is important to save money these days, that's no joke. However day in and day out I get the joy of dealing with them all. State Farm is the best by far. It all comes down to what happens when you have to actually use what you pay all of those premiums for. The balance is pretty good with them. Price vs payout. As far as the toys and other things in the garage, call the agent and talk to him. If you don't disclose these things, you will get burned when the time comes.
Farm Bureau is second on my list BTW. Any discount insurance is exactly what it is. Discount insurance.

State Farm is very good in our area also, as long as you never have an accident. They will pay out what is owed, then they will cancel your policy if you haven't been with them for 10+yrs. Maybe that is just ion my area but it happens alot here.

Being an insurance agent, I guess I could chime in. Erie Insurance (based out of Erie PA) is one of the better Insurance companies as far as price, coverage, and service; but they only write in 13 states over here on the east coast. However, you have to qualify, as they do not insure everyone. I do not want to start a flame war on what company is the best ect. I know Farmers is a big company out west.
As far as covering your property here is how I would do it. Endorse the jet skis to your homeowners policy; the medical payments and liability coverage will extend to your PWCs. Add your ATV's to your auto policy with comprehensive coverage which covers what you want covered most, theft and vandalism. Collision on an ATV is a little much for me because they are cheap to fix but you pay premium, a deductible, and your rates go up if you wreck your ATV and reoprt it to the insurance company. As far as your tools, welders and other property you want to insure you will need what is called an inland-marine policy. You will have to schedule each item in a list and pay a given premium for every $1000 in value. (Every companies premium per $1k is different). A current customer has $18,000 in tool coverage and it is less than $300 a year. An umbrella policy does not extend coverage horizontally but rather vertically. It puts usually $1-5M in liability coverage above your existing limits (usually $100k -$500k). Most companies offer multi- policy discounts so shop around for the best package. Remember, price is not everything. Service and coverage are very important as well, if you have a claim and can't get it processed or lack coverage your "killer deal" will unravel before your eyes.
I could write pages on what to look for and stories of what CAN happen in different scenarios but it could go on indefinitely. I have a decent MS word document of what to look for in a good home policy that does not advertise for an individual company because it was designed (by me) to be informative. I can email it if anyone is looking to expand their insurance comprehension and knowledge to hopefully be an educated consumer. Insurance agents IMO are the bast way to go about receiving the proper coverage. Talk to them and listen to them, they know what they are doing. Thank you for tuning in Shop smart and buy smarter.
