Info on shipping transmission to Standard Trans in FortWorth from Arkansas

I'm considering shipping the old NV4500 to Standard. I'm in Arkansas and it's only 300 miles or so down there. Any suggestions on best company to use?

I've never shipped via a trucking company, do I need to have it on a pallet and banded down when I show up at the depot, or will they do it as part of the shipping charge.

Thanks for any advise

Where you at in Arkansas? I'm here just west of LR.
We have a number of people that run back and forth to Ft. Hood. I could check with them and see when their next run will be.
Arkansas has a number of short haul companies. We've used a lot of them and haven't had any problems. My best SWAG is going the be ~100 bucks.
PM me and I'll give you a ring.

If you are going to ship by truck, you need to band or wire to a pallet and attach a shipping label to it . Here is a company that services the area you are talking about.

USF Dugan

Click on the city thats closest to you. Call them for a rate quote. Ask them if they will give you a courtesy discount. If they won't let me know and I can get one for you. I think that transmission weighs about 250#. Ask them for a quote # and make sure you put that in the body of the bill of lading. If you don't have a business, consider taking it to the terminal to avoid a residential pick up charge. If you have any questions PM me, I'm in the freight business and can answer any question you might have.

If you can hook up with someone like shortround that might be the best way for you to go.

Thanks for the offers guys, right now I've got a local guy, Owner operator that may be able to drop it off and pick it up for fifty bucks. I'm checking that out now.
