incident at the fuel pump yesterday

LONG....I will try to keep it as short as possible.

I'm pumping, guy pulls up in a PS ford sounding ROUGH, he jumps out and says "don't fill up here" "got gas mixed in with the diesel" "this is the last place I filled up" "look at my exhaust" "truck's only a year old"....he revs it and it smokes like a crown vic that never had an oil change. (blue-ish white). I keep pumping and look at the counter, 15 gallons and counting. He shrugs his shoulders and goes inside. He comes out shaking his head...I'm still pumping...he tells me good luck and if it starts smoking then I will know. I'm still pumping. I pumped 28.... gallons and went on my way.

Well, my truck runs great, no smoke, no miss, no loss of power, runs like always. I have used this station (ONLY) for the last 11,000 miles and never had a prob. They sell 3900 gallons a week and I think they have good fuel. I know, always a chance, but.....

Reckon his problem is the fuel? : I never said a word to this guy. Something ugly might have slipped out about his truck and I don't want to offend anyone. I think he needs the luck and should pay his dealer a visit. :-X

He needs to take the truck to the PS doctor.
A few days ago I was behind a F250 SD PSD getting on a freeway entrance ramp. I saw black soot (smoke?) coming out of the tailpipe so I figure he nailed the throttle, so I do like wise, and dang near ran up his bumper. I thought, great, another sick PSD on the road.

Was there three short puffs followed by three long puffs, then three short puffs of smoka again?

Re:incident at the fuel pump yesterday

I thought the new 6.0's had a problem with #8 injector flooding the engine (and crankcase) with fuel and diluting the crankcase oil. Didn't this result in a silent recall and/or engine replacement program?

On gassers, blue smoke means you're burning oil, I would hazard a guess its the same with diesels.

I haven't followed the 6.0 saga closely, but think it wouldn't be far-fetched to believe that if not monitored, this oil dilution would result in accelerated cylinder wear and/or burning "blue-smoke oil". An easy way to check is to see if he's got an extra gallon or so of oil in the engine.

Maybe its just time for some more coffee.....

I agree, he should visit his local job#1 place.

Redleg -

SOS

I should have offered to pull him to the dealer with my full tank of bad fuel. Then he could see if my truck smoked.

I have a friend that runs a 6.0 doing the same work I do. I ask now and then how he likes the 6.0. He usually sounds like a Ford advertisement, but last time he said "Pulls great, has a miss, they can't find it."

Re:incident at the fuel pump yesterday

Guy I work with has an F250 PS and he had all sorts of problems within a month or so. Took it in and they charged him 900$ to clean and flush his tank and lines. Called it bad diesel. I stayed away forom that gas station but who knows. He also told me that the dealer had mentioned all of south Texas has been over run with trucks getting bad diesel. Made me a little nervous but still haven't had any major problems. Just my gremlin that comes out on long trips, still haven't figured that one out yet. Oh well, need gauges but can't afford them right now but will have a bud check my pressures tomorrow. I am thinking its electrical but haven't found it yet and I don't take to many long trips lately.

Re:incident at the fuel pump yesterday

Next door neighbor has a 6.0 PS. He loved it until the problems started. Been in the shop more than the driveway for months now. He says they keep trying to fix it with software flashes, but have yet to keep it running right. I've never seen it smoke though. Just runs real rough for a while. It's undriveable when it acts up.

I have had the privilege of towing him home twice now. Nothing more sheepish than a true blue Ford owner getting towed by a Dodge. And of course, for safety reason's, I drive real slow as we roll through the neighborhood.;D ;D

He is fighting with Ford to get them to buy it back. Told me he's actually considering a CTD if they take it off his hands. Said it's a less painful alternative than a D-Max.

LOL my stone mason has a superduty. He has been bugging me since we met to drive my truck so I lent it to him today to pull his bobcat (forklift) to the job site. He was totally impressed with the power. Says he is gonna get one. We'll see I guess.
