We were stupid busy yesterday with med calls. Last night we had 14 runs for my company alone 26 runs total for the shift, absolutely no sleep. I am going for Lieutenant and I have my Psych interview this afternoon, this ought to be good.

Slept through the night last night, that doesn't happen to often!

I'm two blocks off of Hwy 99, most infamous for the Green River Killer's hunting ground, three "rent by the hour" motels, lot's of gang activity and a huge immigrant population.

They area makes for some interesting call's and is not retirement house!

Should be an interesting weekend, I'm on Friday and Sunday (Acting BC), Blue Angels are in town and it's Seafair Weekend, hydro's and all the crazies!

I'll let you know how it goes.

Marty

new guy here

local 1230 in Contra Costa County, Ca. We just lost two brothers in a crap *** house fire 2 weeks ago. they were on a rescue for two vics. All info at this time indicates a flash over, but it just doesnt make sense based on "rumor". If any of you made the journey over for the memorial, thanks a lot.

Another New Guy Here

Nice to see a little thread for us. I'm from North Bay ON, Canada. IAFF Local 284. 84 full time FF's. Any of you guys get strange looks from the other guys who just don't get it when you start drooling during truck checks once the hood is lifted and there is huge Cummins right there!!!!!!!!!!
I try to explain it to the other guys but most just don't get it. I convinced one guy and he bought a Dodge diesel and said he will never buy gas again. Then this is what happened to him two weeks ago.

He just had his truck stolen, Black 1999 Dodge 4x4 4 door, dual exhaust, 285 bfg At's edge programmer with slide in camper in the back and all his fishing gear and clothes for a three week trip. It was his first day of vacation. Him and his wife stopped in Ottawa at the war museum on the way to the east coast. Come out two hours later and its gone.

He's down but has already picked out a 2003 at the dealer.
Anyway thanks for starting the thread, I'm off to work tomorrow on days after 3 weeks holidays the new truck ran like a dream, 2006 mega cab only the K&N air intake so far. It's only a month old.

Good news, bad news. The good news is I was #1 on the Driver/Operator test (glad that's over). The bad news is I just found out i'm moving to B-shift engine 7. That's the slowest engine company in the city.

Congratulations on the test! I went from the busiest Truck Co. in the state to the third busiest in the city. About half the runs that I was used to but hey... it's not that bad. The pump at our station had 13 runs yesterday and was up and down all night (which pretty much kept us up all night). Inconsiderate losers. We only had 3 runs and would have got some sleep last night if it wasn't for the pump waking us up every few mins.

Thanks Britt, I was just down your way a few months ago. Took a strategy and tactics class in North Little Rock, at the training center. There were a few people from your department there. I spent the last 3 years on Ladder 1 here in Fayetteville, so moving to E-7 will definately be an adjustment. Still the greatest job in the world, no matter what station you're at!

Congrats on the promotion, seems like the new guy always gets the slow station. When I promoted to Engineer I got shipped to the slowest station, was there for a little over a year and then transferred out, now Im at one of the busiest.
