I sold my trailer to a Ferd guy......
Well, I bought a 30' enclosed car hauler about a year and a half ago to start my own business. The company I work for didn't want me to leave so they made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so I stayed. I didn't really need the trailer anymore so I decided to sell it. A customer of mine saw it and we talked about how easily my truck pulled it around and he decided to buy it from me about a year ago. He paid in installments which were supposed to take only 3 months to complete. I would not let him take the trailer until it was fully paid off. It ended up taking more than a year to pay off. I really didn't mind him taking so long because I used it several times and made some $$$ with it.
The funny part is that the first time he hooked up to it and tried to go up a hill the truck would barely go forward. He drives a mid-90s Ford diesel which doesn't have a turbo and it also has 3:55 gears. The engine has 350,000 miles on it but it supposedly had an inframe done not too long ago. He bought the truck about the time that he started buying my trailer and he has spent about $6000.00 on the truck trying to get it ready to do some pulling. (I think he needs to spend some more!!) He's really hating life now because he has big plans for the trailer.
I'm thinking about offering him 2/3 of what he paid me to buy it back from him. I bought it brand new and it still looks like new..
I wonder if I should take him for a ride in mine with the trailer hooked up..... ;D I think this would cause uncontrollable :'( :'(

Re:I sold my trailer to a Ferd guy......
Kind of an apples to oranges comparison... non turbo (probably idi) ford diesel to a new cummins. The horsepower out of the box on both is slanted heavily in favor of the dodge. Buddy in the ford should have done his homework before he bought your trailer. One has to realize hp numbers have approximately doubled in the last 10 years. so what gets hauled loaded by a new truck today will make an old truck struggle with an empty trailer
Re:I sold my trailer to a Ferd guy......
he would have been smart to hook the trailer up to his truck for a trial road teast before he bought the trailer, unless he didn't have the truck or it wasn't running at the time.

Dan, he had just gotten the truck and was having injectors put on and his injecor pump rebuilt. He was also getting the front suspension upgraded along with brakes and exhaust. Man, he spent a alot of $$$ and for this to happen. I will say one thing though, he gat a RAVEN muffler and dual tailpipes on it and it sounds like a gasser with a big cam in it. It sounds much better than mine!!! The tailpipes are too small though, they look like 2" diameter....
