I need some life advice (longish)
there are companies out there that will train you. after college, i decided that fixing quarry machinery wasnt my cup of tea anymore, and that i wanted to drive. i found a company 50 miles from my house that has over 1000 peices of rental equipment from concrete machines to 100000lb excavators and huge road milling machines. they trained me to drive a tractor/lowboy, let me use their newest truck to take my CDL test, gave me my own truck to drive, and then gave me an even newer truck to drive and i love it. best move i ever made. i'm also home every night, and stay mostly within 100 miles of the yard.
