I knew it was too good to be true

Found this Jeep on Craig's list for $2500
Emailed the guy with:
Hello
How many cylinders does it have?
What part of Houston is it located?

Thanks

Brad
Then I got this response.

Hi,

If you are interested in my 1976 Jeep CJ5, it is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 92,154 miles and the VIN # is : J6F83AH087497. It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name.

I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at : http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...der_id=2049856.

The truck is located in Painesville, OH.

The price is $2,490 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. I am selling the truck because I am in the army, and my unit will be deployed to Afghanistan in December.

The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so I decided to use a service from TrialPay. To begin the transaction I'll need your full name and shipping address, I will forward the details of our transaction to TrialPay and then you will receive an invoice from them. The truck will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you will have 5 days for inspection.

Thank you very much for your time.
Matthew Baker

You mean you dont want to take advantage of that? Sounds like a great idea to me! All you gotta do is send him $2500 and he will send you the jeep, you have his word on it right there!

Pretty funny

I got a reply similar to that on a Jeep once, This guy sent me a huge email and not once mentioned the jeep at all, big long thing about being in the Air Force and was stationed in North Dakota and wanted to send me the key if I sent him $4000 and would refund the money if I didn't like it.

I might have thought it was true if he would have answered one of my questions.

Tell him that you just happen to have a buddy that lives 10 miles from Painesville, OH who would be willing to look it over for you so you'd like to know where he could go see it..

I got a response on my question about the motor.

It has a 304 2V V8 engine with a 3 speed manual transmission, this is the original drive train for this truck and it came equipped with power brakes, power steering, and tilt-wheel.

Now I'm not sure.

From looking at a map Cleveland is the nearest big town to Painesville, a search of Craigslist Cleveland does not show this Jeep as advertised local. Wouldn't a person try and sell something locally first? There are a few CJ-5's advertised on Cleveland Craigslist, none are as nice as that and none that cheap.
