I'm not particularly thrilled about it being sold to them, but at the same time, I'm not a big fan of hummer anyways. So I guess I'm a bit indifferent. Let 'em have it.

Far as I'm concerned the only real "hummer" was the H1, the rest are just poser mobiles, "Hey everyone, look at me in the hummer!"

The guy I bought the wheels off had a lowered H2...

My question is did this come with a contract for the manufacture of the military Humvees? If so that is even more outsourcing of our defense technology and dollars. Tracking chips and / or remote controlled computer disruptors come to mind.

That was my first thought, but I thought I heard they are discontinuing the HUMVEE if they haven't already.....
I wonder if they'll get all the technology that AM general had invested for defensive purposes in the HUMVEE.

Oh and I wonder who will be making parts for the HUMVEE now?

I think the Humvees are still made by AM General.

Simply put - No. The article I read in Chicago Tribune indicated that Hummer (and that's the name, not HUMVEE as the millitary units) is all GM ever had, it's simply the customer "image" version that, with the death of the H1, has nothing to do with the millitary version. The actualy millitary units are still property of the goverment and AM General, who GM went to great lengths to buy out the Hummer from a decade ago. Humm, come to think of it, had GM not have gotten so greedy and "had" to have that product, maybe they wouldn't be in this mess quite so deeply now...

Let 'em have it. They want so bad to be "like US" let them have the junk we don't need.
