Hey Shane, good to hear from you again. Are you back in the Ram world again and still building runways etc?
This place has changed dramatically since you were last here and nowhere near as active as it used to be, There are some that still remember your stunt with a little bit of left over concrete. That was a good one.

Still building stuff and currently truck free, but starting to look into another one. Looking to getting a fifth wheel in the next few years considering getting a DRW in the next 6-12 months.

Howdy Cougar! It’s nice to see a few familiar faces still here…although it seems like there are few of ANYONE here. Where’d everybody go?

 

Death by faceboob from what I've been told.

We had a lot of good builds on here, such as a GMC Roof suburban Ramcharger being built, and magically it just stopped being updated. Lots of others that just died and went to FB or Ramcharger central.

Ollie has been doing some builds, but most folks just watch, and not much interaction other than the standard boneheads who are here weekly.

The man behind the concrete bed liner story!

I have to say I sometimes have similar thoughts. I am toying with ideas that permanently mount extra weight to the back of my Cummins powered, topless 2wd Ramcharger build. I spoke with Terry about 12 years ago at Carlisle. He said when Dodge was toying with the idea of a Cummins powered Ramcharger from the factory in the late 80s, they got to the point of adding a couple hundred # of concrete to the back bumper to improve handling.
I have been thinking once I pull the top off my RC a little extra weight in the rear would help.

In the towing and recovery industry, it was once common practice to build a hollow steel front bumper, then fill it with concrete after mounting on a heavy tow truck...When towing a really heavy recovery it was the only way to retain steering control on the towing vehicle...I recall reading of some custom builds that added as much as 3000 pounds to the front axle...Keep those tires touching the pavement boys, otherwise they ain't doing you no good!......Ben

 

I carry close to 1000lbs of extra weight just in front of my rear axle on the 1st gen during the winter. Works wonders for traction on the ice roads we have.

 

You can always build your own bumper out of 1/2" steel plate, and mount it. I made mine out of 1/4" plate, and I can barely pick it up.
