Just wonderin how many of you are or have gone back to school in your adult years? I am going to go back to school soon. I didnt go when I was still young and fresh out of high school. I am now 33 and married and now I decided its time. :- I am going into Meteorology so I can get paid to be wrong! ;D Seriously, I think it will be an exciting career. So long as the wife can put up with me being on edge that long! ;D

I am...too lazy after high school...now I have to work twice as hard to get all of it done...my own fault though....

 

I did - 7 years to get a 4 year degree, but I was working full time the whole time (and National Guard part of it). I didn't have the ambition or discipline to do college right out of HS, but was fine as an adult. The trick is to keep going every semester (even summer) and don't slack off. If you can get a good rhythm going, the classes won't be so bad.
I even did one class during the daytime - day students are as different from night students as, er, night and day. Buncha sorry little kids there because mommy and daddy paid for them to be there - a completely different attitude from the night students.

 

I go during the day...no choice...and I am who they refer to as the "crusty old ******"....and that is fine by me ;D

Did you work full time while you were going to school also? Im afraid I will probably have to work full time also. It will be tough but it will be worth it when Im done.

Yes, I average about 56 hours a week PAY! actuall time here, well, more like 60 - 70 hours a week. Some days start at 3am and end at 7pm and others start 6am and (if I get lucky) end at 4pm...6 - 7 days per week...somebody has to do it! I have 3 kids, 1 plays soccer - gotta get to those games, when soccer ends we will start Tang Soo Do again 3 nights sper week and I have a fairly large garden planted year round...with little to no help. I may have to give something up ???

I am not complaining...hard work, but things are great ;D.

 

Me also. After I retired from the Army I worked for awhile then went back. I had taken a few courses while in but never got excited about it. After working about 3 years for nothing ($) I went back and received a BS in Computer Accounting 1998, now I make ($$) alot better. I did work part-time during school about 30 hrs week. VA picked up almost all the tab. My favorite course were history...It wasn't history to me I lived it...the kids thought it was cool that I was there when some of the stuff happened.

 

Isnt it strange to look back and remember that when we were just getting out of high school everyone told us to go get a good education, but that was no fun, most of us decided we were smarter than those old timers and didnt go to school. Now we are thinking otherwise. I think I will really enjoy it now, dont have all that testoterone running through my veins and can focus on what is important. History is something I love to learn about also.

When I finally went back I was married and worked "only" 30 hours a week as a night mechanic. I finished in 4 years though when some of my fresh-out-of-high-school classmates took 4 and half. My wife was in graduate school at the time too!

It was definitely the right thing to do, but, those were 4 ugly years.

I'm in school right now finishing my double major in Ag. Business and Animal Science. This is my last semester and will be done in Dec. I work around 20 hours a week for a heavy equipment company and take care of the ranch I'm living on. I'm only 27 though and don't have any family so I feel for you guys that do have others to support.
