Can adults sit in back seat of '03 quad cab?

I was all set to buy an '03 3500 quad cab until I sat in the back with the driver's seat adjusted for me.

I'm 6'2" and my knees hit the seat in front.

Could 2 adult comfortably sit in the back for trips of 1000 to 2000 miles?

My Ford crew cab is great, but I really want the Cummins power.

It depends on the 2 adults because it's all personal perference. The way I looked at it was that it won't be used to much, the space is no smaller (sometimes larger) then other compacts like a Focus or Neon and because the over all cab is smaller then something like on a Ford, it makes the truck slightly shorter which allows it to be easier to manuver in city streets and parking lots.

I'm 6'4". By pulling my seat a little forward to where I am still comfortable driving, I have had adults ride in mine with no complaints. And, as stated, the turning radius is fantastic compared to Ford or Chev crew cabs. I sure would not want to drive one of those around town all the time.

I've had adults in the rear seat for fairly long trips with not one word of complaint. And these were adults that would have complained had they had reason to! I drive on a lot of very narrow streets with tight corners and if this vehicle was any longer I would have a problem. On occasion the streets are so narrow I have had to fold my mirrows to get thru and then have to turn a tight corner onto an equally narrow street.

One of the reasons I like the Dodge is because it turns so much sharper than my Ford. It isn't all because of the foot less in length I'm sure.

When you haul adults in the back, is it across town or long trips? My trips with adults in the back are generally 750 to 2000 miles on way.

My '03 Dodge dually QC with the "long" bed is only about 1" longer in wheelbase than my '02 Ford Crewcab with a 6' bed. The Dodge cab is shorter. The Ford has noticeably more room in back seat area.

If you want a Cummins and like your Ford, just drop a Cummins in the Ford. Wear out the Powerjoke engine and drop in a rebuilt or new Cummins. Cheaper than a new Dodge.

If DC keeps losing 1.3 billion US per quarter, you won't be able to buy a Dodge cause they'll be belly up.

Understand also that if you get a Dodge dually, they have 17" wheels and the only tire available (not available in many areas) is a Goodyear. There are no alum wheels available for the dually.

If I had known that in advance, I never would have bought this thing. You can be sure that the dealer ain't gonna tell you about the tire thing.

I just got back from a 900 mile round trip where there were never less than two adults in the back seat. For about 4 hours of the trip there were three adults in the back seat and three adults in the front seat. Nobody complained and everyone seemed comfy.

Two round trips of 600 miles back and forth over the Rockies, with adults in the back. No complaints at all.

I'm 6'4" and there is usually plenty of room for most average sized adults in the back. I haven't had any complaints yet either.

I'm also 6'4 and I have ridden in the back of my truck a few times, because I wanted to see what it was like. I was quite comfortable and had no issues with strained legs or anything like that. I don't know why so many people are complaining about the amount of room to be honest. 6'4, 260 lbs, and I like it just fine

Well, I have an F350 right now, and the back seat is much more spacious than the Dodge. People are probably comparing the Dodge to the competition and that is why all the complaints.

Dodge should have stuck with the quad cab for the 1500 and made a real crew cab like the GM and Ford trucks for the 2500/3500. They could offer both the quad cab and a crew cab and probably sell more trucks.

For what it is worth, If dodge only was going to offer a full crew cab with the longer wheel base, *OR* a quad cab with the shorter wheelbase I would hope they stick with a quad cab. I don't want to drive a bus!

I like the q cab with the short box. It is just right.

I have driven both. We have a PSD shop rig.

Yes with the dodge 6' and taller up front. Shorties in back. But combine the short box with that cab drive it thru the city to a job site then repeat with a ford even with a short box.

It is just so much more maneuverable.
