How long of a crack can they fix in your windshield?

Got 2 chips and the one I got today hairlined 6 inches.

Can't believe I've had this truck 2 months and already have 2 cracks. I had my 1500 for over 3 years and only one chip!

Argg

I'm not sure they can "fix" the crack, but I believe they can drill the end of it and seal it to prevent it from running further.

I managed to go for 6 years with just a tiny chip in mine, then one small rock one day with a tiny chip and a crack that ran from the top to the bottom of the windshield. Now I'm just waiting to see how long my luck will hold out the second time around.

Well my short crack ran to about a 1 foot crack! argg, new windshield is $150 but they said they'd stop the crack for $20. I stopped the crack and will buy a new windshield when they complete this road construction project on my commute in. 2 of the chips I got were within this week.

Is this common on a taller truck? I drove my 04 for 3.5 years and only got one chip in it...

Insurance should cover with no penalty and no deductible, it's a safety issue. They did my 1994 Dodge back in 2000 or so...

But watch out if you have any claims free discount in place. They'll waive the deductible, but they'll mark it as a claim. I had a chip fixed on my previous truck and insurance covered it. But the next time premiums came due, they took away my 15% discount because they said the windshield repair was a claim.

I went 4 years before my first chip then the year after that I got another one in the middle of the windshield that knock on wood hasn't cracked and then this past semester I had a huge rock smack the windshield dead center and looks like I got shot at.
