How to keep cats out of yard?

Okay, any good home remedies for keeping the neighbors' cats out of my yard? I've got three dogs myself (indoor dogs, but fenced yard too), so I can't use anything that might hurt them...

Keep the dogs in the yard more often? Might teach the cats that its not a safe place. Fix the holes in the fence where the cats are getting in? Get a .22 and lie in wait, then "off" the kitties when they enter? Call animal control to report them as strays and have them picked up? Ask your neighbors to keep their cats under control?

Personally, I would leave my dogs out and let nature take its course. Most likely the cats would escape, but if not, I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about it. People need to be a little more responsible with their pets, plus I dislike cats.
Good luck
Dave

I had the opposite problem and solved it by putting an electric fence wire at the top of the chain-link fence to keep our cats in our yard. Worked like a champ! I got all the supplies from Agri-Supply. This system was meant for pets and will not hurt them. The power supply is small and they even had isolators for the wire that are made for attaching to a chain-link fence. The cost wasn't very much either. I think the transformer was around $20 and the isolators and wire were another $20 or so.

I'm not a fan of hurting the animals, so the other solution is like someone mentioned earlier. Call animal control and ask them to let you use a live-trap or buy one. My folks use a live trap to keep unwanted animals out of their yard.

bottle of fake tiger urine is what my dad uses, he gets it at a hunting supply store near him. 12 gauge shotgun with lock shredder shells, run a piece of electric fence wire around the top of your fence and charge it with a 20 mile shocker from a farm supply place, it works for cattle, should work for cats. other then that i dont know what to tell ya.

Understatement of the day.

I dislike cats but I don't want to kill or injure them...so I generally only pump the pellet gun five times instead of ten. Fifteen will penetrate a dog's skin and cause much bleeding, but don't ask me how I know.

hire you a chinaman to set in your yard, they like to eat cats dont they????
Easy there. C'mon guys.

I have cats, and I really like them, and would never want to see some idiot shooting at them unless they were threatening him in some way (LOL?), as I do my dogs. I wouldn't want any of them getting hurt.

The live trap is a good idea.

Most of the time just asking the neighbors to keep their pet in their yard works, but that little electric fence looks like a good idea too.
