How is housing where you live ?

I keep hearing rumors about the real estate market going south. How is housing where you live ? Are people in financial trouble ? Are house prices falling ?

Thanks.

Here in town, it just depends on where your house is located. I have seen a house be on the market for a couple of days and others months. It seems that over all the housing market here in Eugene, Oregon prices are neutral no big increase and no big negative. Yet??

Here in beaufort, with 3 military bases, and half the town going under water when the tide comes in, real estate here is stupid for what the land really is.

Here, I think things are slowing down a bit. In my view, property here was undervalued before the boom, but now I think it's still way high.

We are in kind of an unusual situation in that Google just built a big compound here, and with the columbia gorge scenic act, not much can be built outside the city... Articles about that situation drew invester/flipper money from all over the place.

In the end I think prices will fall. Flipping houses to another flipper can't be sustained, and sooner or later houses will drop back to the price range that people living in the area can afford.

Thumbs up

The market is "sluggish", but the prices just keep going up. Of course it being 75* and sunny all winter is good for the economy.

Around here it is slowing down. My daughter has been trying to buy a house for over a year everything she finds is priced way to high and nobody can come down or they will lose to much money on it.

Around here it seems as property values are going down while taxable values keep going up. We also have the second worst unemployment rate in the country...

Here in Houston, prices are about flat, from what I see. In some areas can get a nice house at a reasonable price.
Last time I looked at the Phoenix area prices were down a bit from an over inflated market.

Here it went down some the past couple years. I am within 10 miles of two Delphi plants and a GM truck plant. Wright Patterson Air Force Base is about two miles away but they need to pick up operations there for the housing market around here to do well.

You need at least 350K to buy a decent house around here. You can't buy anything for under 250K. Taxes are out of control also.

Weve been looking hard for a house with a double garage. 400k+ for anything decent and prices are just going up and up every month. I guess I need a couple more jobs.

Dr. Evil We're not to far from you, just north and east closer to Lamont. The prices here are suppose to go up 10 to 15% this year. No one can afford housing around here anymore. If the market goes south the banks are going to own a lot of real estate thats not worth spit.

Housing market was screaming out of control here in Idaho but the winter has slowed it down but I am seeing it start to pick-up now and is supposed to be going back again this spring and summer!!

Like Evil said, here in AB the hosuing market has gone CRAZY!!!

Houses are selling for way more tnan they are listed for and values have doubled, tripled, quadrupled!! In recent years.

Last summer we needed to find a rental property on short notice and basically could NOTHING in alomst a 100 mile radius at ANY price...

Scary situation.

Retirment heaven here. Less than two hours out of Atlanta and in the mountains. Land is crazy here. They will eventually run out all the locals. This place also turns into Florida during the summer and October. Not to offend anyone but its usually 70+ people who can't drive their finger up u know what with both hands. But with mountain lakes and country clubs galore better bring your wallet and a couple of mortgage brokers. That might get you a trailer on a half an acre
