How do I stop phone solicitation to a business line

I am fed up with getting so many EDIT phone solicitors calls everyday at work. We have 7 lines coming into our business with about 9 multiline phones. The system that we have is about one year newer than a rotary phone(read old)

I am hoping that someone here can say "buy this inexpensive product and plug it into you system and BAM your solicitors phone, eardrum and house are no longer in existance"

HELP SAVE MY SANITY I go off on these people at times. Sometimes the calls go from one line to the next with a computer talking to me.

My customers have my number.

I just put my numbers on the National do not call registry.

Likewise!

I still get a few every so often, but not nearly like it was before.

Wink Takes about a month to slow down but free...

yes sir, do not call registry online application fer sure, no hassle.

takes six months. for an immediate suggestion (in NY anyways)

inform the caller, "do you realize you have called a business? remove this number from your files immediately!"my experience has been that they can't get off the phone fast enough....
it is UCC law (uniform Commercial Code)

regulated by the FCC and some other CCs I don't remember....

if you need the actual law ( I haven't yet)
I can take a quick peek for you.

a five thousand dollar fine because it interrupts the commerce end of business by tying up the line for solicitation.

Once had this stated to me by a wise old Judge: think of why you never see ladies of the evening outside fancy department store doors....they interfere with the commercial trade....and hence are banned.

I usually tell them that they have reached my consulting department and any suggestion etc will be a billable item. I advise them about my consultant fees in the vicinity of 500-9000 US$ per hour (depending on the phase of the moon, tidal waves, Columbian coffee prices or whatever) . Since I sent the first company a bill for my services, and took them to court about it there are virtually no more calls from the telemarketing androids.
For terms and conditions of your consulting business you can consult "Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency" by Douglas Adams.

I have the same flippin problem in my office. Luckily we only have 2 lines, but it still gets annoying. I work for my dad, and now the deal is they will call asking for him....and I tell them he's not in the office....so they just hang up on me!! I HATE that!

i have used the airhorn trick.
or when they ask to speak to the man of the house, i just give the phone to my 5 year old son and tell him to talk about his day on the playground.

I donated to Mc Gruff the crime dog, and poof, every law enforcement agency was calling me. National do not call registry is the way to go.
