How to dispose of a lot of ammo....

My father in law must have been preparing for Armegeddon. I've discovered thousands of rounds of assorted caliber ammo in my daughter's storage shed. All of this is reloads from brass that he picked up at the range. For liability issues, I couldn't give it to another shooter, so I need to dispose of it some other way. Could I call the local gendarme and explain the situation to them? Maybe they have a way of disposing of it. I sure as heck don't want to take the time to disassemble the rounds.

Find out how much is there, and cost of shipping through UPS to 59718 (that is where I am at) I need 9mm and .40 cal. Let me know how much shipping is.
I don't believe there is a liability issue if you give it to someone to shoot- only if you sell it.

You can give it away, as long as you represent it as what it is: reloads that you know nothing about and the user uses it at their own discretion.

Otherwise you can take it to a police station and turn it over to them and let them dispose of it, or just throw it away.

Or...ship it to me, and I will shoot every last bit of it.

Darn Mike, slow down! I was working on my signature and now you are beating me to the good stuff!

Commatoze, split the load. I'll gladly pay for the shipping to 44017. It'll even be cheaper because that will be to my business address!!!!

P.S. No such thing as too much ammo!!! What if you were a law abiding citizen who didn't evacuate in New Orleans and a horde of looters came to your home? Oh wait, if you were a law abiding citizen you would have left when the Mayor ordered you to!!! No, seriously though what if there were ever a land based attack on our shores? I know it is very unlikely, but you never know.

DO NOT get police in NJ involved. If any of the ammo has hollow point bullets, it's a possible felony for Dad. I hope he was just loading wadcutters.

So, what calibers do you have available? Only pistol I have is an EMF .45LC, but dad will burn off the 357's and 44mags if you have any.

Sounds like you can dispose of just about anything on here...

btw, you have to ship it as hazmat to be legal. That will add another $20 to cost of shipping.
