sounds right if he uses it ALOT.

a pool that is used less - but the pump still runs - seems to stay cleaner

i would back flush the pump, get funk out
i would set the pump to run continuous,
vacuum / scrub /break all big stuff loose.

and put ~10 gallons of chlorine in it. (5 yellow jugs from hardware store - they go with the house when you re-sell)
about 3 packs of SHOK-IT (wally world cheapest I found)

and whatever Welder said for algeacide.
that much chlorine should kill hte algae - why i never used it.
(and, the fat guys butt will be raw & sanitized)

testing was a waste of time for us, was either dirty, or algae.

swimming pool chlorine is the CLEANING AGENT OF DESIRE - it will tear up everything, eat holes in clothes, truck seats, shoes...only put it in the bed.
it will destroy most everything & bleach rest so can't be seen.

but run the pump 24/7 is the key.

I thought it sounded pretty good but what do I know, I work at a nuke plant. You don't really want to swim in our pools. Highly borated and slightly contaminated.

Chemicals, thats how they keep public pools clean, astronomical amounts of chlorine....

I do pretty much the same thing as Txwelder, except I use 2lb of shock per WEEK!!

I have never had any problems until this year, now I am getting green stuff on the walls and floor. I suspect the New brand of chlorine, shock, and algecide they are selling at sams this year.....

P.S After a big alge kill, you want to vac the dead alge out onto the ground and refill, this will also help your ph level esp after a big rain...
