If it wasn't for CAFE, we'd still be driving Buick Electras with 455s.

I hate gov't regulation. But sometimes the free market just doesn't work because it had a fatal flaw-- human nature.

I love it. People complain about high fuel prices and government mandates for better fuel economy. Wish I was that rich.

Such was the demise of the 12v B5.9 Cummins. I don't see that as turning out to be a bad thing. I don't see going to 4 valves and overhead cams in the gassers as being a bad thing either. It'll likely result in better mileage and more power. But OMG! The sky's falling and it more fun to sensationalize!!!

Chrysler started working on the hemi in 1945. Nothing like bemoaning the loss of WWII technology. I miss steam engines, too, but I don't want one in my truck.

Same can be said for the B series Cummins. Apparently some of you first time diesel owners don't recall, or weren't old enough to remember, all the whining about the 12v ending and the rush to buy the last ones on the lots. The 5.7L Hemi is a far cry from the 1954 small block Hemi. I would not want to go back to engines of that era. But I would go back to the 12v Cummins.
