Hemi

I know this isn't a diesel question, but what are Hemi's getting for mileage on the 2500's?

Re:Hemi

Add to that the fact that diesel is once again cheaper than regular gas - 20 mpg and cheaper fuel - who's :'( now? ;D

Re:Hemi

I was just trying to get some factual info on Hemi mileage because a friend is going to buy one...just curious. I think we all know that the CTD is better mileage, etc., etc., etc..

I have two friends with Hemi engines. One is in a 1500 and one is in a 2500. Both tell me they get poor mileage. Both also tell me they wish they'd gotten the CTD.

My Cummins is doing better than theirs...but not by much. I used to get 18 MPG and lately it's been getting just over 16 MPG. No change in driving conditions or methods so I don't know why the sudden change. I thought it was supposed to get better mileage with time...not worse. : Still better than the 11 MPG my F-250 gasser got.

Re:Hemi

Hoss, it could be quality of fuel. Run some fuel injector cleaner through it (Stanadyne is my favorite but there are a TON more) and see if that helps.

I suppose it could be quality of fuel, but I've been buying diesel at the same place since I bought the truck. That's not to say they couldn't have gotten bad batch though. I've got some Diesel Kleen I was gonna put in there the next time I filled up. Would a dirty fuel filter make the mileage go down? I was planning to change it according to the manual (15,000 miles), but I know many others change it more frequently.

Anyway....back on those gassers...

Re:Hemi

Changing the fuel filter probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Re:Hemi

Think I'll try the Diesel Kleen first and see what happens.
