A UPS store will give you a physical address. There is probably one right across the border from you. You can even have your mail forwarded. Works just like a physical address on the street. Check it out, might be the best solution for ya. I don't think UPS is gonna move, that is until Obama gets ahold of them. May work for a month or two!!!!

Stan,

Check the fulltimers forum on RV.net. Lots of people travel full time and have to have an address to call "home" so if you search on Texas, you should find all the ins-and-outs of creating an address in TX and living elsewhere.

I was born in La Grange, I only live 12 miles from there.

A registered agent will work for me and forward mail, but there is a monthly charge. I hate to pay over $20 a month for two or three letters a year. In my case, for DMV purposes, an agent is really stretching things and I am attempting to do things as legally as possible considering my unusual circumstances.
I had a gasser in college but as far as I know those counties around Houston, Dallas, and I believe Austin and San Antonio require you to get your inspection in those counties.

As far as the Legal aspect.... I did it every year and so did everyone else I know. You just had to sign an affidaivid saying your car was out of the emissions county primarily. It was a standard form they had.

The reason is for situations like work vehicles that move a lot or college students because you keep your legal address at your parents house... etc etc. Or you could have moved into a non emissions county since you had it registered last and need an inspection because it's due.

Just returned from the 'country' of Texas. Was up there sorting out my little problem.
Just wanted to say thanks for the help and the guys that made offers. The problem was solved by a DTR member who stepped up to the plate and helped me. I will not name him here just in case someone wants to stir the pot.
As usual, there is always someone here on DTR to hold out a helping hand, even if it is a stranger.
