Health insurance for animals
Re:Health insurance for animals
My vet prescribed some human anti-inflamatories for my dog's arthritis that I picked up from the drugstore. I tried to talk her into writing his name as my "son" but she wouldn't go for it.
Work woulda paid for the subscription. I changed vets..... ;D

Good one.
She is a little sore but doing well so far. They took some really big stones out of her bladder they said was caused by the water in this town. I need to look up some information on filtering devices or water softeners since now she has to drink distilled water like me. I had the same stone problem (kidney stones) after I moved into this house.

Anyone got any good filter system info?

DD4X4

Yikes, I need health insurance for my dogs. Just paid $960.00 to get my one Rottie back from the vet.
I don't spend that much on myself.

You know...you actually CAN buy insurance for your dogs.
I'm fortunate enough to have a vet uncle close by who refuses to accept payment from us for his services. He sells us heartworm and flea/tick medication at his cost, but beyond that he won't LET us pay him for anything.
By the way...all of you folks using vets in Texas should know that 9 times out of 10 they're Aggies....

Re:Health insurance for animals
Thanks Grandpa. I visited their site and am going to call them now. They have a dealer in Richmond which is only 30 miles from the house.
Re:Health insurance for animals
RainSoft is a good system. Water here in my part of NC is extremely hard and slightly acidic - bad enough to eat copper pipes every 10 years or so and leaves a green stain wherever tap water stands. My brother has had a RainSoft for 8 years and can't say enough good about it. I am thinking of putting one in myself in the near future.

My cat has to have distilled water because the tap water is so hard.
Re:Health insurance for animals
I have a ten year old Dalmatian that had bladder stones removed 9 years ago. He is on allipurinal (same meds for gout) He drinks hard water and has had no problems since. I would question whether water is the cause. HTH
Re:Health insurance for animals
Well spots, I just had the Rainsoft man check the water and guess what, he left disgusted. He said as much as I would like to sell you something, I can't since their is absolutely nothing in your water. He did the test three times from two different locations in the house and nothing at all. He said you have perfect water and I hope I don't see too many more like this or I will be out of business.
Guess it ain't the water but what else could it be?
I thought that Allipurinol sounded familiar, my wife is on that.

Re:Health insurance for animals
I know that Dals have trouble with uric acid (don't quote me on the spelling) He is on a special food and the alipurinol. This is a commom problem with them. Canine UD by Hills is the food, we get it through the vet. The vet buys skids at a time, they say it is popular.
BTW I would phone the Rainsoft people and tell them they have an honest salesman. Most watersoftener salesman are crooked, IMO.
