;D I finally got my hard water window cleaning figured out, boy it only took me all summer, but hey its done, I mixed a little bit of Corn starch in water washed the windows wiped clean, took off hardwater on the outside, and the film off the inside, now I am happy... ;D

 

Speaking of.....what causes that film on the inside and what is an easy way to get rid of it? I HATE that. I don't think anything bothers me more about windows than having that film on the inside. :

Are you talking about these like dried water drops on your windows that will not come off? I hate that and want to get it off.

 

Yes that stupid hard water spots on the outside and that flim stuff on the inside , cornstarch and water took care of it did it last night, and happy today.

 

The film on the inside of vehicle windows is caused by all the plastic and sundry other artificial material exuding fumes. (Forgive my senior moment, but I can't remember the proper word for that.) These fumes coat the glass just as tho someone was smoking inside the vehicle. New vehicles have more of this annoying coating than older vehicles.
As far as I know there is no 'fix' for this, just keep on cleaning the inside of the glass and stop swearing.

 

Who's swearing? I just don't like the stuff.

Stan, I believe the term is "Degassing"

 

I have a water softner so I really dont have that problem. Ya should try washing the trucks with soft water its harder for it to spot. Plus it taste better.

That's JUST what we need....more degassing on DTR. : ;D

 

Glass companies use Bon Ami cleanser for cleaning glass sparkling clean before applying films, etc. I use it, then coat the glass with RainX. I hardly ever use my wipers in the rain - - water runs off the glass. Makes it much easier to keep the glass clean. Don't use strong glass cleaners on the glass after coating - - just clear water.

Wheeewww....looks like someone owns a dictionary...... Actually, Degassing is the Canadian equivalent to Gassification....

A tad off topic (imagine that....), but Corn Starch is supposed to work real well when power polishing chrome/aluminum wheels. Its an old street rodders trick.

 

routerguy and Dr. Evil: thanks for the tips using corn starch for glass and aluminum. I have trouble getting my wheels looking good, even using Mother's.

By the way, I thought that gassification was the byproduct of a Texas barbeque! ;D
