I found some stuff at Princess Auto (it's a Canuck thing) called WORX, and it does. Dry powder, not as harsh as borax, but cleans my hands right up. Doesn't dry my skin either. My cousin tells me they use it in print shops for removing ink from their hands. I believe it.

Using the liquid glove works well too. Most decent auto parts places would have it.

Kresto "Stokomat" hand cleaner is the absolute best and hardest to find outside of industrial supply houses... (Same stuff, called GOJO "SUPRO", still hard to find)
I use this stuff at work and still can't find the equivalent off-plant
Neither one has a "solvent" based formula like everything else does..
I have real problems with Atopic Dermatitis, and ANYTHING that de-fats my skin causes me weeks of untold misery. ( Palmolive dishwashing detergent for me is BAD! BAD! BAD!)
Kresto Stokomat or GOJO SUPRO are the only ones that don't give me skin reactions. And, they clean SO, SO much quicker and better than any of the stuff you can find at the auto parts stores. (i.e, plain GOJO, Orange Clean etc)

Plus, before getting into any black engine oil, rub some Vaseline into the little cracks of hand callouses and the crevices around fingernails.
On cleanup, the carbon black comes out of the skin much, much easier.

Should even pass muster for the O.R.!

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Lava soap. It's one of my favorites for getting the nasty stuff off the hands. Just grab the green bar and work your hands over with it.. Good old pumice and lye soap.

Ok, so it's not the easiest on your hands, but its actually easier on my skin than most all of the antibacterial soaps out there. Those just dry my hands out to the point that touching anything invokes that 'nails on chalkboard' feeling, after just one washing..!
