H6054 Headlight conversion kits

My local fire company just bought a 2008 ford f350 to make into a brush truck. I am charged with the task of wiring on the lights and other goodies. This was a base model work truck package form ford and it has H6054 sealed beam lights. I need to put hideaway strobes in the headlights, but I cannot drill the sealed beams since they are all glass. So I found this conversion kit. Has anyone used one of these, have any opinions or suggestions for me?

I have never used those before, but it does bring up a question. Why don't you just use the headlamps for wig-wags and put hideaways in the corner lights and mount regular single stobes behind the grill?

The corner lights have a yellow lense on them, there isnt a clear lense available for them. So you can't have the hideaway strobing yellow.

NFPA standards require no flashing amber lights on the front of vehicle when moving, when stopped you are allowed. So if the hideaways were put in the corner light, then you would only be able to use them when stopped.

I flipped through nfpa 1901 and 1912, the only thing I saw was the use of amber lighting on the rear, its to vague anyway.

we have several Ford F-550's at work, they used flush mount 3" rectangle stobes on each top side front corner of the the fenders and single stobess (2) mounted on top of the bumper in front of the grill, most likely not good for your application. I would assume you will be installing a brush gaurd of some type? If you want some pictures for an idea I will get some for you.

Good luck, looks like you got your work cut out for you,

Ford went back to sealed beams? I never would have imagined that. They haven't used sealed beams since the late 80's.

Install a set of Xenarc HID lamps and then you could install the strobes in the housings.

I have also seen the H6054 lamps made out of plastic instead of glass although I do not know if there is an atmosphere inside them.

Do you get to install LED’s in the grille or Oscillators on the fenders?
