Grave Yard

I mean no offense to the several people who are going the family/medical trials right now.

My question is about the Grave Yard shift. How many others and how long. I have been on graves for 5 years . I recently have changed to an swing shift but still have to work over night once in a while to cover for my leads vacations.

The choices were not really inclussive of what I work. Normally days, but do cover on the back shifts. This weekend I'll be working seconds on Friday and then coming back in on Sat. for a turn at 3rds (12hrs) then on Monday, back to coming in at 6am. I think I'll be tired on monday.

EDIT:
I did do the swing for approx 10 yrs prior to getting a mostly day based assingment. Would work 7 days of days, 5 days of seconds, 7 days of thirds then be off from mon. morning till sat. morning when started the days rotation agian. Only bad week was the seconds week. Had to miss everything the Kids where into that week, but I did get alot of stuff done around the house in the am..

I've worked my share of nights/evenings/24 hr shifts. I sleep at night now. Not to say we don't pull some overniters to get the jobs done.

I have worked overnight and loved it. Right now I start at 6 AM, so I'm in bed way before the evening news.

All of my grave shift mechanics work a 4-on 3-off 3-on 4-off. I do miss that part about nights. You can take three days off and have 10 days to play. I have two day guys that work 7-on 7-off and one on m-f.

7, 12 hour shifts every two weeks, and we rotate from 6A-6P to 6P to 6A every four weeks.

4 on 4 off. 12 hour shifts. Nights one shift ,then back on days the next. Best thing about it is when you take your 4 days off (1 shift) you get 12 days of vacation.

Swing Shift for over 25 years,,,,,,,,,,
Six days of 0800 to 1600,,,,, two days off
Seven days of 1600 to midnight,,,,, two days off
Seven days of midnight to 0800,,,,, three days off and then it starts all over again.
Man,,,,, I'm looking for the day when I only have to walk to the mailbox to get a paycheck!
