Got my tractor today!!!
I'm just gonna post here what I posted on TractorByNet. Tell me what you think!!
The tractor is a Yanmar 1401D, 4WD, its a grey market model, which means that it was just imported from overseas. Most parts are interchangeable with the US version, and I found every part that I might ever need on HoyeTractor.com. I think the main difference between the US versions and this one is this one has no ROPS, it has a 3 speed PTO and those rice tires.
I'm so excited I had to take a bunch of pictures, sorry.
At first I ran into some trouble getting it off the trailer. Like I said in my earlier post the battery defiantly needs to be replaced and it either needs a new regular or a who new alternator.
Tried jumping it a couple times. Didn't let the battery charge for very long. It would maybe turn over once but just wasn't quick enough to fire.
Then I remembered that the thing had a compression release. Pulled that out, turned it over, let the release back in, she fired right up. It just runs great. There was someone over here visiting the horses and he brought his car over to help me jump it, he commented on how great it ran. I'm going to get a new battery tomorrow, and I need to fix the piece of leaky radiator hose, put a 70% water 30% antifreeze in there (for during the summer, correct??), and then I will start diagnosing the charging problem, though I will probably need some help from you guys!
On to the pics!! Sorry they are dark but the barn doesn't have any electricity yet!
I got everything including the hydraulic oil, manuals, diesel can, etc. with the tractor and the implements (Muratori tiller, bucket/pond scoop/whatever you call it, Howse bush hog, and carryall w/ electric sprayer. for $2,700. Did I do ok?

I think you did very well, especially since it's a 4WD.
I have a little Ford (made in Japan) that is a little sweetheart. It has a front loader and a scraper. I use the loader all the time for picking up stuff and moving it around.

PTO has 3 speeds. Not sure what you would use faster than 540 for though.
Tractor has 3 speeds in each range, 2 ranges so its a total of 6 speed.
Its a really neat little tractor, its got brakes for each wheel like the big ones, its got a foot throttle, hand throttle, diff lock, enough levers that I have to be careful with which one I move lol.

Weither you like it or not you need to explore the idea of a ROPS. On something that narrow of a wheelbase I would want it. Nowdays I hate running tractors without any type of ROPS on the farm.
That's a very decent price, all things considered. Lots of folks will say buy Green or Orange because parts are easier to get ahold of---tell that to my buddy with a 750 JD CUT. He's got a cracked head and JD says sorry, no longer available
Congrats on your purchace!

That will def. be something I look in to Adam. I think they run about 600 bucks for this model.

You really need to be careful purchasing grey market tractors. My BIL got a grey market Yanmar, almlost like this one. The engine rotated in the opposite direction. He never did find a mower that would work. The US mowers all ran in the oposite direction. A mower won't cut very well using the back of the blade. He tried an underbelly mower with the belt flipped in a fig 8. It would make it run the right direction, but it would burn belts up in one yard cutting as the belt would literally rubbed itself to death.
I've done my research on this tractor and found that everything is "normal" on it. I've even got the US versions of the manuals that talk about everything down to rebuilding the engine.
I was banned per my own request for speaking the name Pelosi

My neighbor had one like that. Awesome little tractor. Check the front axle shafts for stress cracks at the flange. You may be alright because he had a bucket. Turning in 4wd stresses them until his sheered right off. Being gray market it was hard to order shafts and get somebody to work on it, he had to get used shafts. That was the only issue, the thing started every day at 20 below and would push a lot of snow.
The JD is a Yanmar painted green anyway.......
Which direction does the PTO turn in?? As allready stated that is a big problem with the grey market tractors.
Seeing as you allready have a mower and a tiller that fit it. Perhaps you don't need any other attachments anyway?
Best of luck with your new purchase!
