Mine works best with 5psi and 30* The first few days of a new keg produce some foam on the first pour but after that all is well. No the beer doesn't freeze until ~25*. The colder the better, with a frosted mug I get beer crystals, YUM

I read this whole thread and you have to be the only Marine I know that complains about cold beer and too much head. For pete's sake just drink the stuff. Drop the PSI and don't be afraid to pull the trigger all of the way right off the bat and pour. The first 1-2 will always produce a little bubbly.

I'm jealous you have a kegarator and I don't.

Let me know first, I'll make sure it's nice and empty... no reason to waste perfectly good beer.

I wish I could afford a Guinness Kegerator, but the are too expensive for my blood...

Yep, I figured it out. If my tower is warm, then the first 2 beers are a little foamy, but that goes down the hatch pretty quick. My kegerator only goes down to 34*.

That's a heck of a road trip for some beer... If I had a strip or dedicated dyno around, it might be worth it...

How long are the beer lines ? What diamater are they . If you lower the pressure to low by the middle to end of the keg it will start going flat.

I have a converted chest freezer that I made into a kegerator . 6 taps the lines are 3/16ths and 10 feet long I serve at 40°-44° depending on the beer at 12 psi Every pour is perfect. Beer should never be too cold or served in a frozen mug all you are doing is numbing your taste buds and really not tasting the beer.
The reason the beer is foaming up is there is to little resistance in the line and the CO2 comes out of solution. here is a site that explaines how to balance your sytem http://hbd.org/clubs/franklin/public...s/balance.html

In all instances adding to beer lines solves the problem I had 5 ft lines when I first started and had problems like you are having. When I added more taps I bought 60 ft of line and made them all 10 ft. Solved the problem . The lines are all inside the kegerator so they stay cold. I just put a wood collar on the top so I had more head room and the taps are mountedto it. This way if need be I can just remove the collar and its a freezer again . I use a Johnson temp controller to make it work like a fridge . I don't have a pic of mine but it like this one

An old college trick... wipe the side of your nose (not the inside!) and then wipe your finger up the inside of the cup. KILLS foam like its nobody's business.

Ok, about that...

So, what I think my problem is... I have the kegorator outside, and the tower gets warm, so if I don't pour every 3 minutes, it's foamy. If I'm pouring quick, I almost don't have enough foam. After the 2nd beer, the head is perfect.

Me and a buddy of mine were out there drinking tonight... perfect.

I do need a cleaning kit, tho...

oil kills the head but do you really want your oils in the beer.

ok there are tricks for cooling the tower . Take a computer fan and wire it up to a 9v cell phone charger and place it with a duct that goes into the tower just a flexable hose. This way cool air is exchanged another way is to take some copper pipe about a foot and wedge it into the tower with 6 to inches exposed inside the kegerator. The copper acts like a heat sink and cold is always drawn to warm so it cools the lines .
