Good music download site for iPod?

Where do you guys download your music? I can't "afford" iTunes anymore. $1/song just isn't cutting it. I was looking at Rhapsody but you can't play the music you download on an iPod.

I am not really saying this to be critical of you, but what is wrong with paying $1.00 a song?

A $1.00???

Somebody has to make some money somewhere or the music industry would go down the toilet. The band/singer/artist has to make some money for singing it. The songwriter needs to make some money for writing it. What about the producers? Label? Marketing? I think a $1 is fair.

I think about how many times I will listen to that song I bought over the next few years and I feel like it is a bargain.
I am just happy I don't have to pay $15.00 anymore for a CD that ONLY has 1 or 2 songs I want.

My 2 cents. Or would it be $2...

..

Well, I've been using iTunes and have been ok with $1/song for a while now. But when there's places like Rhapsody that cost something like $15/month with unlimited downloads, it's much better.

Limewire will cost you in stolen information and viruses.

Downloading music is time consuming... just stream it.. XM.

Limewire has a lot of viruses... better have a good firewall. There are a lot of songs to download...

What I have seen people do is swap MP3's in the workplace... I get your songs, you get mine... then you build a library.

Yeah, I don't trust limewire. Dang, all you guys using iTunes must either have a lot of money to waste or have a small music library. When you've got thousands of songs like me, yeah you bet $1/song starts adding up.

Madhat, it would be great if Apple allowed you swap songs like that. Unfortunately they don't. Not only that, you can only burn a song like 7 times.

for me, its more about the fact that I know I wouldnt want to be giving my work away for free. so if I think I really like an artist, or a song, its usually worth the money to buy it....thats what I did before itunes, limewire, napster, and kazaa came out...remember when people used to have to buy cds or tapes (or records, 8tracks, depending on how long you have been around)? i guess the mentality for me hasnt changed. especially if its a group I really like.

now to sort of contradict what I said above, if you buy an itunes song, and burn it to a cd, then re import it as an MP3, it is no longer locked, and its yours to do whatever you please....but I feel better with that, because I paid for it
