Gonna be in Bridgeport CA

I will be at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport for three weeks starting April 13. Anything going on weekends out there. I work for a civilian contractor and am from Maryland. Don't know the area at all.

Thanks

Thumbs up Take Hwy 108 towards Strawberry from the Training Center

Its a 26% Grade near the top of the mountain 9600ft, An awsome drive, Beutifull scenerary. It Might be closed due to snow though. The eastern Sierra Nevada along 395 is a fun place to explore. Lots of ghost towns around the nevada side too... www.ghosttowns.com

Bridgeport is a beautiful area in the Eastern Sierra noted for trout fishing.
Just south of there is Mammoth Lakes, one of California's premier skiing resorts.
All along 395 there are pack outfits where you can pack in, camp and fish.
This time of year, though, you're talking skiing. Although we have not had a lot of rain/snow this year, I'd bet the higher elevations of Mammoth has enough to still enjoy.
The packing and fishing really doesn't start until after Memorial Day.
The scenery up there is absolutely breathtaking.
Bring a jacket.
As far as exploring this time of year with a vehicle, you'll have lots of snow and mud, stay on paved or road base roads.

Im down here in Ridgecrest (Chinalake NAVAIR) on 395 south of Mammoth and Bishop about 2 1/2 - 3 hours south (maybe less )

Lots to do around for the outdoors type. Out of state fees are ridiculous though. Should still have snow around, and maybe even get some more coming up this week if the weather man is right this morning.

It is a great area. Bring a good camera. But Bridgeport has the most over priced cost for fuel in California.

If you have the weekend off head to Tahoe see a show, throw the dice. head to Virgina City, and Reno.
