Awesome story....I can see how it could happen. I come close to peppering my dog one day, I was walking along and jumped a single up and right as I was about to shoot my dog came over a little hill. I jerked the gun up as quick as I could shot over the top of him.

 

Not uncommon to get shot during a quail hunt. My Dad was shot in the face (thank god for shooting glasses) and I have been hit in the back. Quail move low and fast. Always got to keep an eye out for your hunting partners and dogs.

Heck I've been shot too. It was just clay shooting and we had a hi, hi, runner combo. I was just stand about 10 feet away and back a bit too. The guy was folloing the runner and it took a wicked turn and i caught about half the pack. Thank God for good food in my house 'cause my gut stoped all of them. Just had to pop them out like zits. Burned like crazy though.

I know a few guys that have been hit with shot, it makes a nice story as long as no-one loses an eye or anything.

 

I shot my best friend right in the chest 8 years ago, nobody got hurt....

I got hit in the fall of 2004... it happens.

I feel for the VP. This one joker I used to rabbit hunt with got shot all the time. I swear, the guy thought he was one of the beagles. He'd climb in the brush piles, refused to wear orange at all, and I can't remember how many times he got peppered with shot. We finally got to where nobody would take a shot when a rabbit first came out of a pile, just to be safe. We'd just wait for the (real) dogs to bring 'em back around...
