ford has been sandbagin the new 6.7. initial release numbers this year for hp/tq were a lot lower than reality. after GM and Dodge released their numbers ford went back and said HEY, ours is higher and sent out letters to customers for a "free" ecm flash to uprate hp/tq and maintain factory warranty. buddy of mine in Kansas called me and read me the letter. he went right in and he said it was night and day difference.

Its pretty clever.

I find the HP wars a bit dumb nowdays. My 03 HO stock has plenty of power to pull my 30 ft goose loaded up. My preference would be for all 3 mfg's to produce a truck with a balance of power, fuel economy and reliability. I get the impression that they are focused on the power and letting the other 2 slide (especially Ford on the fuel economy numbers I have heard from owers of the new trucks) and the prices for them is getting out of hand.

had a hotshot truck come to the rig last night in new ford 6.7 and he is getting the same mpg loaded as i did with my 06 5.9. All tho he did say it was better then his previous ford.

the old 97 I drove at work had plenty of power to use for a pickup.
I mean honestly, if any of us are pushing these trucks to their limit, its time to step up to a Class A truck.

I call fake, but it is entertaining.

However, someone should send GM a little note telling them when the Duramax turns 21 that the Cummins crew will buy it a beer.

So true. But people don't buy Fords because they need more, they buy them because Ford advertises bigger numbers and writes SUPER on the front.

I'm watching to see if this latest breakthrough, er correction, falls on it's face like the previous disasters. I was just talking to a guy the other day that bought a brand new Ford diesel. He was so proud that they had 400 HP and were so much better that Dodges and Chevies. I asked about the recent problems, the unproven designs, the cab removal, the tranny problems, the Navistar lawsuit, the warrantee disaster, etc. He'd never hear of any of it, but knew they were the best 'cause they had 400 HP.

Yup!! I would love to see a new truck that powers like my 03 but didn’t have the weird problems like my passenger windows, overhead console, front ball joints and the many reported problems by so many people like the HVAC problems, lift pump etc. I wish they would have stopped "improving" at 03 and spent a couple of years making trucks that eliminated those small but costly problems that irritate the heck out of us (and cost money). Its why VW did so well for awhile (awhile back). They put out a decent product for a specific market and kept refining it.

Didn't all the 6.0 problems result from Ford adding more HP ?

Some of the 6.0 problems were from Ford jacking up the HP, but a lot were from sand left in the block castings. The sand plugged up the heat exchanger for the oil cooler which stopped flow thru the EGR cooler which caused overheating & headgasket problems.

None of this pertains to the 2011 truck as the motor is now all Ford and Navistar is no longer the supplier and it's a whole new design.

The guys I know that have the new Ford trucks are very pleased so far. The fuel mileage is kicking the crap out of the Dodge and GM trucks. I'm thinking about a new truck next Fall and will not count the Ford out. They have been able to increase the power and fuel mileage by reducing the emissions junk and using urea injection. It's interesting to me now with this path that has emerged as an alternative to the regular way of reducing NOX and having to "sacrifice" mileage and/or power.

What is the cost of Urea thought when you figure cost per mile, I have heard that when under no load the trucks make alot of NOx and therefore use alot more Urea, part of the reason that Dodge didn't go with Urea.
