Once I held a Glock I never looked at anything else. I would like to get a combat commander back in my possession but that's personal for me. I currently have just the 22 .40 and it has been the best I've had.

Depending on what you’re after in a pistol they all have highs and lows. If you don't want to spend the $$$ then Glock it is. If you’re not going to hand loading hot rounds and your pistol will never see anything more extreme than a factory loaded cartridge you may consider looking at the Glock 37. That way you get the medium size frame with the umpff of the .45acp..

Well, that's SORT of true.

PC 46.035 (a) - A license holder commits an offense if the license holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun.

What does "conceal" mean?

GC 411.171 - "Concealed handgun" means a handgun, the presence of which is not openly discernable to the ordinary observation of a reasonable person.

The point is, you have to do a bit more than make "a reasonable attempt at concealment". The moment it becomes "openly discernable to the ordinary observation of a reasonable person" you are breaking the law (unless you're lawfully drawing it to defend yourself or someone else).

Of course, the ordinary observation of a reasonable person usually means that they don't even notice your presence because they chatting on the cell phone, but I digress.

again the 22's a great gun, but i have a hard time concealing it.
I conceal my G22 using nothing more than an untucked polo shirt or t-shirt over my FIST OWB leather holster. As long as the shirt is long enough to cover the gun it's not that hard to concea...but I have broad shoulders.

YOu kinda have a reason too, don't you??
If you plan to rely on your gun and your shooting abilities to defend your life or the life of a loved one then I would say that you do too.

Back on topic...for the money I'd get the Glock every time. For twice the money I'd get two of 'em.

The USP series is just a scaled down more affordable version of that pistol. So, if it's good enough for the Seals, it's good enough for this ol' cowpoke
I used to work with the guy who did acquisitions for USSOCOM-- trust me, Seals don't carry Mk 23s.

Notice the ads say "developed for use by Navy Seals." True. But NAVSPECWAR decided against them as a mandatory weapon. For the most part, SEALS carry whatever the heck they want, as long as it's a .45 ACP. Some even carry special 1911-based weapons like Kimbers or Para-Ordnance. Lots carry Glocks, SIGs, or HKs. No one carries a revolver, I promise that, ()

When it comes to weapons, the philosophy in USSOCOM is to give that elite warrior whatever the heck he wants-- the only requirement being ammo interchangeability. 9mm was killed in spec ops because it just doesn't have the stopping power, and multiple shot kills waste ammo. It's not a question of how many shots to HIT someone (given the training), but rather how many to KILL.

EVERY SINGLE ROUND that a Special Ops troop fires is Match Grade Ammo-- most made by the specialty armorers at Quantico (they also service the FBI).

Disclaimer-- this is all what I was led to believe by this guy. I was one block from USSOCOM headquarters in Tampa, where he used to work and he was calling over there all the time. I trust him.

True, the Sig deserves honorable mention as well. P226 is a great gun, imo..

I like Glocks. I've gone to the armorer's school, and have a 17, a 27, and carry a 22.

That being said, search google for "glock kaboom" and "glock frame rail failure". We've had a couple go boom, but with reloads, so it's hard to say where to place the blame. We also had one frame rail failure, which rendered the gun useless, but Glock replaced the frame for free. Actually, I think we had several that were within that serial number range that were also replaced for free, but it rubbed me the wrong way that we found out about the known problem when one failed.

Anyhow, that being said, I still like Glocks, and will probably also buy more.

I've only shot the USP briefly, but I'd have to say that I was very impressed.

Bottom line, for me anyway, pick the one you like best- and whatever you choose will probably make you happy.

OK, anyone seen this Sig P226 with the laser built into the grip?

http://www.sigarms.com/Products/Show...7&productid=79

The SIGs are also great weapons, but they have a lot more pieces than a Glock does....

Anyway, I got to fondle an HK USP COMPACT, and it fits my hand PERFECTLY-- I have kinda small hands, and it's just beautiful.

The HKs are as simple as they can be and still have the features they do. One thing I always HATED about most DA/SA pistols was that the trigger pull is inconsistent, since the first round is DA and all subsequent shots are SA.

The HKs have a setup to where trigger pull is consistent from round to round, and it's not the beastly stiff pull of a typical DAO.

When I shoot the beretta 92 9mm for USAF qualification, my first round is always the least accurate, and the single action rounds are usually spot on. I need a lighter trigger pull to be accurate, it seems.

New top contender:

http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/index...tNumber=704204

It's got a DAO design, but trigger pull is only 7.5lbs. Read the description--looks impressive, eh?

Have a Baby Glock as my carry... Almost bought an HK, but I couldn't justify the expense at the time. Both are excellent weapons.

I've never fired a plastic HK, but a friend did have a 40 cal compact HK. Comfotable to shoot. But I would only use good ammo. He had several casing split (and freeze in the chamber and cram another round up against the spent case) due to the chamber size.

The only glock I have fired was a 27. It was the only glock I've ever felt comfortable holding. The rest have all felt like out of balance 1x2's. Especially some of the sub compacts that you can only put three fingers on the grip.

I have a former border patrol Beretta 96D Centurion. It is DA only. Because of the loooong, STIFF trigger pull (a factory trigger job will only go to 9 lbs) I tend to pull a little. It is about 1-2" at 10 yards. That is more then close enough for my purpose for the gun. It is a winter concelment gun due to the size.

a lot of AFSOC CCT guys I know, who have thousands of rounds through any given handgun in a few weeks and trust their lives and their teammates lives to a weapon choose the HK's over the glocks hands down.
are you planning on doing the same job they are? probably not...so the extra price may not be worth it to you, unless you just have the cash to burn. it is worth the extra money, I've shot quite a bit through a USP compact, VERY nice handgun; for me, costs more than I need to spend on one.

if you're looking at the glock, shoot a springfield XD-40, or 45. they cost roughly the same and I am a LOT bigger fan of the XD than the glock. but the glock is not a bad gun. whatever you do, go to a gun store/firing range and shoot a few hundred rounds through the ones you're considering and factor that into your decision making. it's pretty important that it fits comfortably in your hand.

this christmas(to myself I'll be getting the XD-40 4" ported. that's after shooting a LOT through several different XD's, Glocks and an HK; haven't shot a Sig.

My dad has 2 glocks, and a buddy has two HK's. Another buddy has 2 sigs. I think I like the sigs best, high dollar though. All of them are good pistols. I've got about 8 or 9 handguns I guess, don't really shoot em though. Kind of like a hammer, I just keep it in the drawer til I need it. Only one I shoot much is a ruger slab side mark II.
